Stayed at Sultan Bey for second time December 2nd to 13th. I love the homely feel to this hotel with its separate buildings and flowers everywhere. The hotel is clean, the food is great by Egyptian standards and we only ate elsewhere twice in thirteen days. The staff are friendly, helpful and there is no hassle which is great for me as my husband dives most days and I am left to my own devices -painting, reading, walking around and taking photographs. Boat to Zeytona is regular and the boat boy always helps doddery old ladies like me aboard! Close to shops in downtown. New this year tea/coffee making facilities available for your room and heated swimming pool (not convinced on this though!!)

Just came back from five days at the Sultan Bay Hotel. Room was clean and tidy, and well serviced every day; a tad small with a five and six year old sharing, no probs, at their rates I'll get two rooms next year. Very close to an area called downtown, great meals at good prices. Hotel was very clean, very helpful staff. Regular service to the marina to eat and look at the boats while my wife shopped. It took me three days to see what was missing, rubbish! this is a pristine resort, we'll be back!

El gouna resort is a great place for family holidays. Staying in one hotel does not mean you are confined to this hotel as the whole resort has free transport and moving around is very easy and all hotels are accessible. The resort organizes parties in the main square and the marina area three times a week and guests from all hotels enjoy the open air meals and drinks.
Sultan Bey is an Eco friendly hotel so there is not much extravagance and grandeur yet the hotel has a unique design, an abundance of beautiful plants and flowers everywhere and a great view of the lagoon. The staff did not spare any effort to make our stay enjoyable and Zeitouna beach provides an extremely beautiful place to swim and snorkelling is just fabulous along the coral reef.
Food in the restaurant is average but having stayed in many hotels in Sharm el Sheikh and El goona, I can easily say that it does not get much better in any other five star hotel. All in all El goona is a great place for relaxing and enjoying the sea with its great marine life.

We spent one week at Sultan Bey after Nile Cruise and returned home 25/4 . Monarch flight had to turn back from M/cr so delayed and then we had to fly to Larnaca (Cyprus) for a reserve crew however the First Officer was rushed to hospital so we didn't get to M/cr until over 24 hours later.
Sultan Bey hotel is well run with attentive and helpful staff but is a little tired in decor and needs a little bit of TLC. Also the beds were only just about OK as they were on solid wood slats with an "average" thickness matress. Rest of room was good with nice balcony and sat tv. No tea/coffee facilities which was a let down. Restaurant and pool Bar served excellent food with a beer at 27 egyptian pounds and wine a little pricy at 40EP per glass. The wine throughout Egypt was awful stuff and expensive so dont bother. Beer was between 20 and 27EP and good - Sakkara. Breakfast had all you could want with continental, cereals, egg station serving great crepes etc. Plenty of cooked food with a few egyptian specialities which were excellent. Coffee cups kept full until you said no more. Good choice of food in the evening but they ran out of lamb one evening at 8.30 (supposed to serve until 10.00). You could use the dine around scheme but we were surprised at how much extra you had to to pay to go off the set menues which had poor choice. The Steak House in the Marina area cost an extra 400EP and their food wasn't impressive being cold and not fantastic quality. The moroccan restaurant was superb in Marina area.
Private beach and infinity pool looking direct onto the lagoon. Plenty of sun beds with matresses and free towels. Nice flowering shrubs and gardens. Downtown was only a short walk away but beware of the cobbles if not good on your feet. Shuttle boat to own island with free beds/shades/towels. Local shuttle boat to Marina was 100 yards away. Local shuttle bus 20 EP per person per week was fantastic value. Frequent entertainment in the hotel as well as Downtown and Marina areas.

All in all a great place to stay.
