Red Mangrove is located right on the water, walking distance from the port. The rooms are very nice - we had 2 rooms both with amazing views. People were friendly and helpful! It's not in the center of town so it's quiet. Food and drinks at the restaurant were excellent. The breakfast is perfect - eggs the way you want them cooked, a nice spread of other items like fresh fruit and yoghurt. One of the best things about it are the Sea Lions lounging on their own lounge chairs in a roped off area. Note there were no lounge chairs for the people, however it looked like they were putting in a new area for outdoor lounging for the visitors.

Room Tip: Ask for room with water view!

Dear HMakgill

Thank you for sharing your experience on Trip Advisor as your comments are highly appreciated.

It is heartwarming to know that you enjoyed your experience in Galapagos, as you said, service, location and facilities are important components that we have been able to combine in order to create great memories in our guests.

Sea lions on the deck are a highlight, they always keep the eyes of our guests, it is an advantage to witness their behavior from our deck while you are enjoying the high standard gastronomy available in the restaurant

We hope to have the opportunity to host you in future,

All the best

The hotel sits right on the water. Dinner or drinks on the deck is fantastic. The food is very good.

It is about a 10 minute walk to the center of town. The walk is pleasant, meandering past shops and bars. It is right next to the Darwin Center and beach as well. The shower worked well, but the water drained poorly. I asked that this be fixed, but it wan't taken care of. Standing ankle deep in dirty water isn't pleasant. The bed was comfortable.

This property has very little storage, particularly for wet clothing...not good for a waterfront property. We had to hang our stuff on the curtain rods. Since our room was right next to the restaurant, this was not a plus.

The energy efficient LED bulbs in the bathroom are blinding! No matter how I directed them, they laser beamed their way into my eyeballs by reflecting off of the mirror. They also had one outside our room that was visible though the transom above the door. Given that the Santiago Room we were in was flanked by the lobby on one side and the restaurant on the other, we were bombarded by sound and light from all directions until late in the evening. On the plus side, we had an ocean view and had sea lions and iguanas outside our window each morning.

The reception staff is a mixed bag. I failed to get names, but one of the staff was unbelievably helpful while the other one was expressionless and cold. She was the least hospitable hotel employee we encountered in our three weeks in South America.

When she wasn't on duty, it was a very, very friendly, clean, and ambient place.

Room Tip: Santiago Room is next to the lobby on one side and the restaurant on the other. Not quiet until 10 PM or so.

My two daughters (21 & 14) and I recently spent 4 nights at the Red Mangrove in the Darwin Suite. It is a true suite, with a large bathroom and 2 separate outdoor seating areas overlooking the water. The quality of bedding and amenities in the room and the excellent food and wines in the restaurant were what you would expect for a hotel at this price point...but especially impressive considering the hotel is in Galapagos.

The true stand-out were the employees. From the lady we spoke with each afternoon at the reception desk, to the waiter we had each morning at breakfast, they remembered us and our likes. I have high expectations for staff at really nice hotels, and everyone at the Red Mangrove exceeded my expectations.

I highly recommend the hotel.

We stayed at the Red Mangrove on 3 different occasions and 3 different rooms while visiting Galapagos. We found the Red Mangrove to be the top "luxury" hotel of the 3 we stayed at between Santa Cruz, Isabella and San Cristobal. The rooms are quaint and homey, the beds and linens are top of the line and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating and nicer. The wifi at Red Mangrove was also very good. You can do anything except download a book. The Almar restaurant, which is located at the hotel, is the tops. We had no reason to go anywhere else to eat!

Room Tip: The rooms are all different and priced accordingly. You can always request a room with a water view.

Dear Karen,

Thank you for sharing your experience on TA.

It is highly appreciated to have your comments about our staff as well as the facilities and equipment installed in all the rooms, we have tried our best and we are pleased to know that it was suitable for you.

In reference to the rooms, Red Mangrove has three type of accommodations:standard, superior and suites rooms are available and can be requested in advance.

Almar restaurant placed in our hotel is an excellent option for our guests, food and view are amazing and as you said it is not necessary to leave the hotel to have a great moment.

It is difficult to have internet in all the islands even this we can ensure that the connection in Red Mangrove is one the best in all Galapagos.

We will be pleased to host you in your future visit to this magical place in the world.

All the best

I had the pleasure of staying at the Red Mangrove in May 2018 (only for one night), but found the ambiance to be peaceful, the staff to be attentive and warm, and my room to be everything I could possibly need (including a view of the harbour as I worked quietly at my desk – it should be noted that I don’t like a room without a desk). Nice work on maintaining a lovely respite from the busy-town that Puerto Ayora has become!

Dear Heather,

Thank you so much for sharing your comments on TA.
It was a pleasure to host you and it is highly appreciated your feedback about the facilities disposed in every room as well as your comments about our staff.
In fact the location of the hotel is a highlight; in this property it is possible to enjoy a wonderful view of the bay combined with the visit of sea lions to our deck, this very close to Puerto Ayora that as you said is a small busy-town with many different options available if you want to get a last minute souvenir.
Please let us know when you will be in this paradise again that we will be delighted to host you.

All the best,
Red Mangrove Ecoluxury Hotel
