We visited this resort after sailing through the Galapagos Islands via private yacht sailing the 1000 plus miles from Panama. After being onnthr yacht for 36 days travelling from San Cristobal to Isabella and then to Santa Cruz, we were delighted to see such an elegant place like this.
We enjoyed a lovely lunch after hiking to the grottos and the salt pond. Then the night after. We enjoyed a lovely candlelight dinner. The staff was truth amazing! We also thank the owner and our friend , TEPPY, for a lovely time and great conversation . The rooms are outstanding and the property is impeccably clean and manicured to the finest detail. You will love this piece of paradise please not that from the mainland of San Cristobsl Island you just take a launch a. There is not a public road to get there . Have fun.

While the hotel was nice and the staff was attentive, the owner of the property, Teppy Angermeyer was inappropriate and ruined a wonderful group dinner. During our dinner he walked up and asked us if we were from the United States, where our President was in the process of starting a war with Russia by bombing Syria. This quickly put a damper of our wonderful evening and had us all checking our phones for information, only to learn that he was misleading and was just stirring the pot!!

The room set ups were all very unique in their own buildings as far as I could tell. We had a quaint little room that was along the main path to and from the center of the hotel, but it was wonderfully quiet. The area to congregate in the evening with our group for a beverage was nice as well.

Room Tip: Eclectic hotel with nice rooms; all different

This hotel has the history of the Angermeyers, among the first settlers in Santa Cruz. It's right on the waterfront and you see the yachts and cruise boats that dot the bay. My room was bright and cheery.. The food was terrific, as was the staff. During our stay there was a dance party and we all joined in.

Dear Joanne,

Thank you for your feedback.

I'm very happy you had a good time with us.

I don't know how much you got to know about our family history, but several of the buildings are actually original constructions made by my grandfather.

All the best and wishing you a great day

Transport: You cannot get here by road. To get to the Angermyer resort you’ll stop at the water taxi pier from downtown. It costs 80 cents per person during the day and $1 at night. When you walk on the pier, it’s the first dock to your right. You pay on the boat. The water taxi only goes to a couple stops (Angermyer, Finch Bay, and private yachts). It’s very easy to order the water taxi. If you don’t see one on the location from your hotel, just ask the staff to radio one over. It’s about a 5 min water taxi ride from downtown to the resort. We never had any issues and it was very easy to use.

Room: we stayed in the friends room (the penguin room). There was an AC unit which we mostly only used at bedtime. I enjoyed it, because I love the sound of a fan at night. From our room we could see the ocean and we could even sit on our private balcony for coffee.

Scenery: it’s beautiful! You can sit next to the water and see all kinds of animals. I had my tea out there our first morning there and saw a turtle, a sea-lion, two baby black tip sharks, a gecko, and several different kinds of birds. If you want to go to the beach, you can take a 10 minute walk down the path to it. Bring your snorkel gear, because there are all kinds of things to see! We saw baby black tip sharks, all kinds of fish, and a sea lion. You can also jump into the ocean from the dock at Angermyer. It’s recommended not to be in there after 5pm due to shark activity. We jumped in a few times but quickly got back out... we’re chickens. Lol

Lounging: there’s a few lounging chairs to hang out in and they’re pretty much always available. We enjoyed hanging out on the boat dock the most.

Restaurant:
Breakfast is buffet style. They have fresh fruits, yogurt, granola, fresh made breads, sliced cheese, pancakes, waffles, fish, pork, and eggs. If you’re an early riser, they have a fresh pot of coffee ready around 5am (maybe even earlier). They also have an assortment of tea by request.

Lunch: we only tried the fish sandwich. It was alright. There’s really not many people around for lunch. Most people are out doing tours.

Dinner: the teriyaki Ahi Tuna steak was phenomenal! Tables are always available. Service is a tad slow, but the view is gorgeous.

Service: is mostly good, but can sometimes be a bit slow at times. You can charge things to your room and pay at the end. Be sure to bring $1 bills for tipping = )

Drinking Water: it’s recommended to not drink the water from the tap. The owner of the place (Angermyer) said the sink water is probably okay, but he doesn’t want his guest to chance it. They offer free filtered water at the bar. They have a water container in your bathroom for brushing your teeth and one in your room for drinking. We brought our own water bottles and refilled at the bar as necessary.

Drinks:
They have fresh strawberry juice, pineapple juice, and orange juice. They sell beer, white wine, red wine, and liquor. We went to the local supermarket in town and bought our own drinks.

Tip:
Go to the rooftop! Best views on the island. Buy a bottle of wine from the supermarket for about $11 and enjoy the sunset. The rooftop is truly a hidden gem.
