Crowded hotel with small beach, not sure why is more expensive that the other on the island, its far from the city center. People is very helpful, food is average, is far from a nice vacation I prefer a hammock than the stay on the hotel

For what we paid, this was a joke. First off, from when I check in, I had to wait an hour and a half to finally get my room keys because "it wasn't ready." When I finally got to my room, there were footprints on the floor with mud. Also, the bathroom smelled horrible and looked like it wasn't cleaned in days. Angry, I called the front desk and they immediately transfered me to another room that was better, not perfect. So then, when I went to use the WiFi, my son made a stunning discovery: you can only pair one device to the WiFi hotspot at a time. Terrible! Then there's the "beach." First off, its not the Jersey Shore. It's just a small closed off area with no walking platform or even shore to stroll along for a nice walk (not the best for long romantic walks). And also, the water is disgusting. I mean, I wasn't expecting crystal clear water, but when you stay in a hotel in front of the beach, you'd expect a beach to swim in, right? Despite all this, the staff is very friendly and cooperative. Probably the best part of the entire trip. Food is average. Not good, but not bad as well. Overall, I blame the island as a whole. It's not very alive, or geared towards tourists. Limited number of attractions to choose from, best for two/three night stay, no more. Go somewhere else, please I beg of you! My worst vacation in 12 years! Please go elsewhere!

Room Tip: Tip: take the money you spend here, go to Jamacia or Cancun (Mexico), feel great about yourself

I went to this all inclusive hotel this month (August 2015). The place is small, compared to hotels you find in other countries. The food is good and you can book a restaurant inside the hotel or on a another hotel of the same franchise. The rooms are okay, but the beds could be better, we reserved two rooms and they did not give us rooms that were close to each other. They offer paid WiFi which is slow (average of 100kbps).
The pools is small, but the staff makes activities every day for kids and adults. The hotel does not have a real beach, it is next to a mangrove swamp, they accommodated the ocean front to make a artificial beach, the water is clear but the seaweed makes feel dirty (at least to me), therefore, I did not like the beach. However, you can sign up to a boat ride to a small cay, which is really cool, but you have to bring or purchase water shoes because you could get hurt with the coral reef.
They give you access to the beach club, at a different location, which is at about 5 drive from the hotel, you can use the cab service. The beach club has access to an actual beach, no great, but it us okay, the water level is low, so you can walk to a nearby cay.

Room Tip: Some days they do a "pool party" at night until about 10:30PM.

Hotel antigo, quartos bem antigos, sem praias próximas. Perto do centro, mas distante se a pé, inclusive porque o caminho andando seria pela pista de carros.
The location could be disastrous if you're looking for a beach getaway, or intending to go outside the hotel. The beach in front of the hotel is timid, just a thin clogged strip of sand, and the ocean is quite muddy there, although clean.
Families and children take over the hotel often, so be prepared if you thought you could get a romantic trip here. They even have those "animators" who go loud and crazy around the hotel all the time. Great for families, annoying for adult couples. Plan accordingly.
The sole swimming pool is ok, but the hotel is so big for its structure that all the tanning areas are packed, loud and hard to stay. Still nothing as packed and loud as San Luis, for example.
The all inclusive is not impressive at all. All the drinks are served in plastic cups, or even paper ones when they get too crowded, and most hotels in the chain serve Miller Light as their sole option, which is disappointing for those who look for local brands or full "real" beer. Other drinks taste ok, provided you don't mind drinking them from the said plastic small children cups.
The rooms are very old, but good and rather spacious. The ac is disastrous, and its performance veries accordingly to the occupancy rate. Worth reminding that the in-room controls do nothing if you want it stronger, and very little if you want it milder. Showers not so good, hot water is always a surprise. Impossible to adjust. On the other hand, everything is quite clean, and the daily maintenance is good.
The wifi is paid in this hotel chain. For us, this was a total deal-breaker for a possible return. There's a difference between wanting to stay online all the time, and taking some time every other day to keep your family informed of your whereabouts. The only time we folded and decided to pay the extorsionist fees, the internet was down anyway. And they DO NOT work inside rooms, only in common areas. Even if you want to have a nature-time with your kids, they'll make you pay dearly for this.
The buffet restaurants of your own hotel are there for you, but if you want to go a la carte, or visit restaurants from other hotels of the chain (all very far away), you'll have to stand in line for a painful scheduling procedure. Lines of guests are HUGE, and you'll lose up to one hour every day trying to do it. The hostess is, incredibly so, the ONLY rude and impolite person in the whole personnel team of the hotel. Amazing that they'd choose her of all people to deal with customers. We gave up and chose to dine on our own budget, even after having paid for an all-inclusive. Factory-style buffet all the time just did not do it for us.
The a la carte restaurants are ok. We tried the thay food at Aquarium, the Islander at Isleno, the Delfines one and that was it. We didn't even get a chance to dine at our hotel's own restaurant. They really should allow you at least one night without having to compete for it with all other guests.
In conclusion, Marazul is a third or fourth quality option for large families on a budget who won't mind enjoying hotel facilities only. If that's not your case, RUN. Really run. Don't even consider it.
