There is always a long line here so we gave it a try...pretty expensive for Chinese standards (or maybe we just got ripped off)...but the squid and lamb skewers are pretty tasty...

We were looking for a restaurant on Zhongshan Road and came across this little place. The BBQ food is outside, and I'm not sure if it's part of the inside place. This is a very popular place with locals, and was very busy when we were there. The menu is under glass on the table and it's all in Chinese, so unless you speak Chinese, have a Chinese friend with you, or have an app on your phone, you'll have to rely on pictures on the wall of some menu items. There are soups, various noodle dishes, and casseroles to choose from. We had eggplant, potato and green pepper, rice and tomato and egg noodles. All lovely and very cheap (les than 40 RMB). I wish I was staying for longer so I could go back!

After we managed to find this place on 中山路 (Zhongshan Lu - the entrance is a little hard to find), we ordered two dishes and one tomato and egg soup. Together with a coke we paid roughly 10 USD. The food was delicious and surprisingly less oily. The menu is only in Chinese though and there is no English speaking staff available. Anyway, just go and try! It's a good lunch while exploring 中山路 and downtown Qing Dao.
