Good Diner food, service is good, nice people. Mostle I eat breakfast there, but I also had the meatloaf that was very good.
I visited the Andover Diner and Family Restaurant this past weekend. I liked the old style diner look. It is shaped like the old 50's diners with red and white steel features. The parking lot has easy entrance and exit with adequate parking spots. As I enter I was warmly greeted and shown a seat. The down side was there was a taped cushion and the carpet could use a deep cleaning if not a replacement. The waitress was professional asking if we would like a drink. Our water glasses came out promptly with a lemon twist. I ordered the Yankee Pot Roast Special $13.99. The Special comes with soup or salad, entree and dessert. I had the chicken noodle and it was good. The Yankee Pot Roast was also good as was the red cabbage and strawberry ice cream.. The potato pancakes had all kinds of problems, They were barely warm not hot with virtually no potato inside and the outside was extremely over fried. They were the worst potato pancakes I have ever had. My diner partner had the Monte Cristo at $8.99. It was excellent. The French fries however were limp and not fried enough to be crispy outside. Maybe the fryer needs to be replaced. I liked the painted mural on the wall with Jimmy Dean as it was perfect for the diner's image. One thing I did notice was that many locals came in to dine while we were eating and they were all greeted warmly by name. That is usually a good sign. Maybe I just hit a bad time.
I've eaten here about 4 times and never liked the food. A real turn-off were the endless flies buzzing around trying to land on my food. Big parking lot, not expensive, but not my idea of a place to get a good meal.
Extensive menu. More than enough to eat with dinners. Dinner salad (with meal) was huge ... and tasty also. Pretty much no atmosphere. You go there to eat ... and you eat well. No 'fast food' in Andover, so this is about the only option.
