I read in a couple of places this was a 5***** hotel...in their dreams! I think the Chinese must make up their own star system!

The first reaction on entering the room, was depression...dull, uninviting and jaded....who thinks rooms should look like something from the 19th century?...at least it was large, but who's idea was it to put huge granite tiles on walls of the room, which were so stained over the long history of the room....the floor tiles were the same...also, if you've ever wondered what an Indian bed of nails feels like, try out the ultra hard beds.....a complete overall is needed urgently.

The rest of the hotel had a certain charm and loved the swimming pool...you could easily spend the day relaxing by it....but didn't like all the extras you have to pay for.... table tennis, snooker, pool and even a child's rubber ring for the pool.

There's a lovely beach a short walk away, but get there early if you want a sun lounger as the Russians are quick to put their towels on them and hog them for the day!

Worth trying the local restaurants (turn right out of hotel, then left and walk for 20 minutes. Good meals at a fraction of what you pay in the hotel. ( also good supermarket there for cheap water etc)...also try the B-B-Q at night (turn left on the road at the back of the hotel, by the beach) cooked in front of you...all you can eat for 50 yuan!

In conclusion, if you can overlook the basic rooms and get the hotel for a bargain price, it's viable, but don't be fooled into thinking this is a luxury hotel on par with others in Sanya Bay.

Room Tip: Mountain view is a better option, as the rooms overlooking the ocean get the sun all day and makes the room feel like a sauna

Beautiful entree, great big swimming pool, rooms are good size, clean but boy oh boy the beds are hard!!!!!! We would have been more comfortable sleeping on a carpeted floor. Sleeping in the king size bed was like sleeping on a stone floor with a doona on top. Bathroom a good size, with all the proper condiments.
Restaurants in the hotel are expensive, but one can walk approx a km on the beach a eat very inexpensively at the beach bar cafe. English with staff not to bad, some do and some don't but staff will always find someone to translate. It is approx 15 minute ride on bus to the shopping area, and being so far out of town, restricted mainly to the hotel.

Room Tip: We had mountain views and for the price very reasonable, but I think if we went back we would prefer ocean view with balcony.

I just wish I can speak Mandarin because this resort doesn't really cater much to English speaking guests. Only a handful of reception staff speak a little English. Otherwise, I am happy with this resort. It has enough amenities to qualify as a five star resort. It has a nice big swimming pool, an outdoor gym and easy access to the beach. I only stayed at this resort as it is the only one offered by RCI. The international chains of resorts are mostly in Yalong Bay area. Nearer to this resort in Sanya Bay are Holiday Inn and Pullman.

This resort is not cheap like the rest of China - it's trying to be like Hong Kong and failing. Beach and hotel are great, but other than Chinese very little of any other language is spoken dispite calling itself an international conference centre. The food was acceptable, but again, would have expected better from a 5* centre - none chinese food was very poor.

One very sad point i have to mention is that the concierge pocketed 100 yuan that i gave him to pay a taxi - and sadly, with only basic communication skills, i could not prove it. Very disappointing, but lesson learned on my part.

The room i had was very spacious and well decorated with a great sea-view. Would i stay there again........nope. After spending two weeks travelling through the chinese mainland - this part of Sanya was a disappointment.
