“Excellent Tour Guide/ Taxi Driver in Siem Reap”
Reviewed 21 December 2007

We went to Siem Reap for 3 days in early Dec. 2007. It was an awesome experience. Firstly we had great weather, it was dry and not too hot to be walking around the many temples. The crowds were manageable, though if you went in the opposite flow to the standard tourist, you missed out on even more of the tourist horde.

We flew to Siem Reap from Singapore via Jetstar Airways. The flight was very comfortable and got us into Cambodia by early morning, so the day was not wasted.

We were very lucky with the taxi driver who picked us up at the airport with his profeciency of the English Language and his charming demeanour. We decided that he would be our guide/ chauffeur/ 'man-about-town' for our 3 day tour. This man did not let us down and I very highly recommend him.

His name is MR. SOPHEAP (nickname is "TEE") and for approx. $30US per day, he will pick you up in his taxi, drive you to where you want to go, use his local knowledge to help you get the best out of your stay, and because of his excellent English, you can get an insight of what it is like to be a Cambodian living with a young family in 2007.
TEE's contact details are : [--]

Our itinerary included 3 temples (that was enough), a tour of the floating village (which I heartily recommend), a $10US Massage that was superb and some excellent Cambodian food from restaurants that TEE recommended to us.

“Great place to see”
Reviewed 18 November 2007

Siem Reap is a great place to visit if you are tired of Bangkok, Taipei or Tokyo. See one of the world famous heritages Angkor Wat, and it is only 2 hours away from HK.

“Siem Reap and the temples of Angkor”
Reviewed 31 October 2007

Siem Reap and the temples of Angkor are a must see if anyone is planning a trip to Vietnam or Thailand. Although the town/city is basically a tourist town, do not let this detract from the temples of Angkor that surround the city. The temples are amazing, in particular Ta Prohm, Bayon, Angkor Thom and Beng Mealea. The latter is a trek out of town but it needs to be seen as the temple is basically engulfed by the jungle and it requires a guide to be able to navigate the ruins. Also try and see the floating village and flooded forest if possible

“Out of this world experience”
Reviewed 4 October 2007

We have just spent 4 days in Siem Reap. However, we didn't do as so many do and stay just around Angkor Wat we spent time further out.
We spent a memorable day travelling by boat to the Ton le Sap lake. After the boat trip we had lunch with the captain of the boat and his family in their home. It was great experience, such happy and smiling people without a care in the world or too many possessions, but they are happy all the same.

Then we spent a day travelling to Beng Melea and other temples about 150kilometers from Siem Reap. As in Angor Wat the temples are mind blowing, but this time not with the hundreds of tourists along for the ride.

Ankgor Wat, Angkor Thom and Ta Phrom were also incredible. We spent time from sunrise to sunset in these temples with a guide who was a walking encyclopedia.

All of the travelling around was arranged by Hidden Cambodia. Sheila, Paul and Slim along with the guides did a fabulous job. No fuss, inexpensive and nothing a problem. I will definitely be back to see Siem Reap and Cambodia with them again.

“Cambodia is our new favorite destination”
Reviewed 28 February 2007

We just returned from a trip to Cambodia, Thailand and Japan and I have to say that Siem Reap was by far our favorite destination. The ancient ruins are beyound amazing. We have been to ever major ruin site in Meixco and the Angkor Site is far superior.

The food was also amazing and cheap. Do not miss the Red Piano Restaurant. The food is great and oh so cheap.

I will write a more in depth review once i recoup from the jet lag.
