Pleasant hotel about 2.5km from the main city area ($4 by Tuk Tuk). Nice pool area and the rooms are clean and spacious. Not the most modern hotel but met or needs just fine. Beds are very hard, but I'm sure that will suit some people. Breakfast buffet is good, but not great. All the usual you would expect.

Outside of the busy centre but only a $2/3 Tuk Tuk fare to the centre.

Good rooms, quiet location, well located for all the attractions, nice staff, great breakfasts, nice pool area and gym.

Only downside was the poor Wi-fi in the rooms.

We stayed here for 3 nights and I loved it. The location was around 15 minutes by driving to Angkor Wat. It was also a $3 one-way tuktuk ride (can accommodate 4-5 people depending on your frame) to Pub Street. It's around 15-30 minutes away from the airport depending on the traffic. This hotel was pretty busy as tourists like us arrived at night and from experience, they speak good English and seem to be trained very well in terms of hospitality and was very efficient. If we had more than 4 days and spare time, I probably would have just lounged around this hotel to make the most of my stay. Hehe.

When we arrived, the bellboys and staff were very accommodating - always let us feel welcome once we step in the hotel. Our room was on the end of the 3rd floor and it was pretty quiet. We had a king bed and refillable toiletries, clean towels, slippers, small safety box, hot shower, bathtub, bidet, bath robes, hangers, hair dryer, cable TV, small fridge, coffee and tea. One thing to take note is that you can use the amenities like the umbrella and slippers but would have to pay if you take them especially the eco bags (slipper bag, hair dryer bag, laundry bag, toilet paper bag).

There's also a pool until 10pm and enough Western and vegetarian selection for breakfast.

I don't know if it's Angkor in general but there are a lot of mosquitoes outside so stay protected. There were also small bugs in the room so pajamas and keeping yourself covered would be a nice option for sleepwear.

In general for Angkor, bring USD in small bills (as in 1 dollars) and use them instead because they tend to undervalue in the airport and overcharge the conversion when you pay in local currency. We found that tuktuk drivers and guides give a more reasonable $1USD=4000 Cambodian Riel conversion when we wanted to pay in local currency. This hotel, for example, wants 4300 if you don't want to pay in USD.

For food, I liked Khmer Kitchen near Pub Street for Khmer food (try amok pork, oven pumpkin with cheese and khmer curry) and the Sokkhak River Restaurant for the spaghetti ;)

Room Tip: choose big king bed, use USD when transacting

While Siem Reap seems to have hundreds of hotels for tourists visiting the Angkor Wat temples, we found the Tara Angkor very comfortable, convenient, and mid-range in price. The room was comfortable, with an king-size bed and a comfortable desk beside the bureau on which the TV sat, plenty of plugs, and fairly consistent, relatively fast internet service. The breakfasts included both Asian and western fare, with changes every day: a selection of noodles with meat and fish ingredients, a hot rice breakfast porridge, an omelet station, cold cereals, fried rice and other Asian dishes as well as fruit and juice. Options for lunch and dinner were not as numerous, but I suspect many guests went out for dinner, as did we some nights. We did not use the attractive pool, but its showers and changing room are available for guests who have checked out but want to shower and change after a day at the temples but before an airplane flight, which is a very nice feature in a tropical climate. It's also within easy walking distance of the Angkor National Museum, which has an extensive collection of Buddhist statues, as well as other statues from the temples, housed in the museum to save them from vandalism or theft. The hotel is a good choice for travelers to Siem Reap.
