What a wonderful hotel with the most professional and attentive staff, I couldn’t fault it and from the start to the end we were treated flawlessly.
The hotel itself boasts beautiful large bedrooms and we had a lovely balcony view, a pool, gym and spa.
Breakfast was lovely with a great selection and sunset happy hour cocktails and the food was really tasty and good value.
There is a crocodile farm next door which you can see at the end of the hotel, this was quite interesting although we didn’t pay a visit to the farm and personally I didn’t agree with the animals treatment.
The hotel is nearby to local shops and not far from the centre.
The hotel offered Angkor Tour options and a complimentary Tuk tuk into town between 3pm-8pm.
A truly wonderful stay.
Thank you.

I am seriously struggling to fault this hotel in any way shape or form.
Of a 6 week trip of Asia and numerous stays in many well regarded 4 and 5 star hotels ,Damrei knocks the socks off anywhere else mainly in terms of value and service.
The staff here are impeccable ,friendly ,helpful and attentive the rooms are pristine and tidy the pool and food was excellent
Highly highly recommend

With an hour up my sleeve, I tested out poolside sunset drinks at Damrei and was impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of staff.
The pool is located on the first floor. You can find it by using the stairs on your right as you enter the property, behind the restaurant.
Happy hour is 3-6pm where the offer is 2 for 1 if you buy the same cocktail.
The bar staff spoke excellent English and suggested I try the 'herbal' cocktails they specialize in. This was a wonderful suggestion, as the "Green Tiger" (fresh ginger and mint) and "Cool and Fresh" (lemongrass and kaffir lime) were truly refreshing and delicious.
This is a good place to try for pre-dinner drinks or cocktails and is not far from Wat Bo Road.

First the bad. And there is only one thing, the wifi. It's not always working.
Now the good! Everything! The staff, the rooms, the pool, the restaurant, the breakfast, the area. It is all great. You are greeted at the airport free! The breakfast is amazing. A lot of fruit. Salads and sections where they make omlets and soup. The rooms are very big and clean. The pool is comfortable and has a bar. The location is so close to center and very quiet! I would recommend

We stayed at this hotel for a month during January and, on the whole, were very pleased with our choice. There are many positive things to say about Damrei Angkor but there are also a few negatives, which we would like to list as follows:

Positives:

The location is good, in a quiet area between Wat Bo and Wat Polanka. This side of the river is a nice place to be, as it is away from most of the enormous tour coaches which are now polluting the town centre with noise and fumes. It is easy to walk to excellent restaurants such as Marum and Viroth's, and just a 15 minute walk into town or up to the main museum.

We had a complimentary pickup from the airport on arrival in one of the hotel's cars.

Our room was large, modern and clean, with a comfortable bed (this was a deluxe double with a pool view - we could also see the crocodiles from our balcony and were not disturbed by noise, although on a couple of days when it was feeding time there were fishy smells). The balcony was a nice place to have a cup of tea or a drink in the late afternoon. There was a large TV with multiple channels.

The pool was very pleasant. It is smaller than it looks in most pictures of the hotel, but nevertheless large enough to do some swimming. In hot weather the water does not take long to warm up, which we like! The grounds are attractively lit at night and well kept.

The restaurant produces some good food which is reasonably priced. I would have preferred unsweetened yogurt at breakfast but this is something which we found at the Angkor Market supermarket (Swiss, or made by Blue Pumpkin) and so we were able to keep a large tub in the room fridge. There is good coffee available for which you pay a couple of dollars but the coffee at breakfast seems to be made from a chicory blend.

The lady in charge of the spa does extremely good massages and is extremely kind and friendly. In fact, we experienced a lot of kindness and friendliness here because we came down with flu shortly after arriving and were looked after very well while we were convalescing. The manager, Mr Nor Sreng, was particularly helpful, and sorted out a few little glitches for us such as a room card which stopped working and the shower drain which seemed to be blocked at one time. The assistant manager is also helpful, and we particularly enjoyed dinner with them at the end of our stay.

This is a very reasonable hotel and we felt that it offered value for money: £45 a night for bed and breakfast in high season.

Negatives:

As a recent reviewer said, the internet was pretty poor throughout the hotel. We found that we were constantly struggling with it in our room and around the pool. The best place was the breakfast room, so we coped by checking e-mails at breakfast and then going into town in the evenings where we could use free and fast WiFi at restaurants. We know that the management tried very hard to improve the quality of the internet during our stay, including installing a dedicated hub extension - we did feel dreadful having to tell them each day that it wasn't any better! - but nothing seemed to work and I would hope that this problem has now been solved.

We thought it might also be a good idea to give a little training in English to some of the staff who struggled with English to enable them to interact more easily with guests. That said, our Khmer is shockingly basic, but I do think that these days in the hospitality industry you have to be able to communicate in English for British, American, Australian, Canadian, and other English-speaking guests, and for all those for whom English is a second language.

In conclusion, we would recommend this hotel because it came to feel like home for us during our stay in Siem Reap, and, if the internet has been fixed, then it would be a very good budget option. Thank you to all those who took such good care of us - and last, but not least, a big wave to the security man on the gate who always took his hat off to us and gave us such a nice smile!
