Recently stayed at the Prince d’Angkor, which we found to be in a really good location for restaurants and bars (pub street 5 mins away by tuk-tuk). Hotel room was very comfortable. Excellent pool and poolside food. Breakfast was good, with a reasonable selection. Nice lobby area with hotel bar to relax in.

It is incredible that a hotel of this standard has the main dining area located on the first floor with no access via guest elevator. The only guest access was up a long flight of stairs with no support rail, or via the hotel kitchen service lift. What an insult!
It is also incredible that a hotel of this standard does not automatically offer two room keys for the convenience of their guests: those sharing a room do not necessarily go everywhere together and why should either one be expected to call housekeeping to be let into their room?
Other reviewers have remarked that they found the hotel food good: this was not the experience of our party of seasoned travellers. We found it disappointing and not of the standard of other 4 star hotels we have experienced.
The situation, the pool ( especially if there were more beds ) the cheerful helpfulness of the general staff were good points. In particular we say thank you to the excellent and professional a members of staff in the hotel Spa.

Room Tip: For the disabled - not the first floor because there is no guest lift. If you are unable to climb s...

Overall a good experience. The hotel staff are very respectful, polite and do their best to be helpful despite sometimes lack of strong english skills. The pool is very nice and is definitely necessary to escape the heat. The rooms are decent and clean but are not five star quality. I also had a very good massage at the hotel for a very reasonable price. I would recommend venturing out of the hotel to eat (ask your tour guide for good local restaurants off the main strip).

How different we all are in our reviews. I read the reviews before booking and accepted a few negative comments. But I cannot recommend anything about this hotel.

I emailed the hotel before buying a Group-on Deal to be sure the dates were available and to say I had a disabled guest with walking restrictions. Went ahead and bought. Emailed the hotel to confirm the reservation, no response, again and again. Finally a response thought it was sorted, but no. Finally had to get Group-on CS to contact the hotel for me.

I emailed the week before arrival to remind them of the need for wheelchair accessibility and an adjoining room for my children, as I knew there were no interconnecting. Positive response. All's well until we turn up to find my Mother, with the mobility scooter had been put on the first floor, accessible only by stairs. She was offered to use the service lift. No I don't think so! Another hour while they shuffled the rooms around. Our children are now four rooms away but Mum had an elevator she could use. Not disastrous, but when I asked for a second key to the rooms we were told by the Front of House Manager that they didn't have any. More persistence to get that sorted out.

I bullet point the remaining negatives:
* This hotel is not suitable for disabled with walking difficulties and the Reservations Manager did not think to tell me, despite more than one email.
* The restaurant/breakfast room is up a flight of stairs with no elevator.
* Some of the staff are rude and disrespectful, others are smiley but useless. All lack common sense and training.
* I'm not sure there is a Head Chef, certainly the standard of food would suggest not.
* Breakfast was the same poor selection for 3 days.
* The bedrooms and bathrooms are dark, which is OK but could do with a re-furb.
* The beds have the flexibility of concrete and the bedlinen more befitting a hostel.
* The AC is old and noisy.
* This is a Denge prevalent area and although Mosquito fogging was carried out around the grounds, the bedrooms were invested, probably coming in through the AC vents. No effort is made to control this. It is normal in this type of hotel to light repellant sticks, at turn-down service. But there was no service.
* This hotel has 220 + bedrooms and we counted 25 sunbeds on a good day. Most people are out and about during the day, but the beds are still in use and there are not enough.

Positive points:
* The location is good, but there are many hotels with a good location.
* The therapists in the Spa are professional and very good at what they do.
* The pool is quite nice after a day in the heat and dust

Although I cannot recommend this hotel, I can recommend Quad Adventures for a fun ride around the villages and paddy fields at sunset. It suits all ages and is very safety conscious. You get absolutely filthy, but it is worth it to see the kids waiting for the bikes to come past. If you have a few wrapped sweets to throw to them as you go by they are even happier.

I also recommend Viroth's restaurant, for fabulous food in a great atmosphere with great service.

The silk farm is worth a visit.

I recommend Chamrong and his driver Kuhn. I booked Chamrong through Toursbylocals.com. They were professional, easy company, highly knowledgable and know a great place for up-market Hawker lunch. They did everything possible to ensure my mother enjoyed as much of the temples as was possible, given her limited walking ability. They heaved her scooter/wheelchair around as required as if it was just part of the job. I booked two days, but changed the itinerary to suit our needs, which was no problem at all.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel!

The Prince D'Angkor in Siem Reap is a wonderful place to stay. It is in the heart of Siem Reap, within walking distance of the night markets, lots of restaurants, and other attractions in town. It is also very easy to get to Angkor Wat from this hotel. The lobby is beautifully decorated with wood from floor to ceiling, and the rooms are similarly well-appointed. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and took the time to remember us and our requests. The pool is great, and the breakfast buffet has something to suit every taste.
