Review of Cafe Puka Puka

Cafe Puka Puka
Ranked #5 of 10 Bakeries in Siem Reap
Description: Café Puka Puka was named after the word for "flower" in Khmer. Like its namesake, colorful flowers in full bloom adorn the terrace throughout the whole year. The orange décor offers a soothing tropical atmosphere inside the café. Enjoy our special desserts with their lavish array of Cambodian fruit. Be sure not to miss out our original Mango Shake and Mango Sorbet!Café Puka Puka promises you a cozy and relaxing tea time. We use fresh fruit and ice made from water inspected by the authorized inspection agency of Japan. Our ice-cream and sorbet are home-made with no additives.

Hubby and I had a huge breakfast today so skipped lunch and decided to have a shaved ice as an afternoon treat instead.

This place isn't near to us but I wanted to try it as it had such good reviews so we drove out there by moto. It was worth the drive.

I got the coconut shaved ice and hubby got the red bean and green tea as he wanted to try a Japanese flavour.

Since the founder of this place is Japanese they have Japanese menus as well as English ones.

They served us ice tea together with our shaved ice. The ones pictured in this review are the small size shaved ice which are $3.30. I found the small size to be more than enough but they also have a large size available for $4.40. They sell tea and cookies in the shop next to the cafe.

I would definitely like to go again. It's just a shame it's not nearer to town.

It's a great pace to chill and rest after touring the temples of Cambodia! Their Mango Sorbet is the best-seller, it's a must try! :)

To my fellow American adventures, definitely make a stop here to cool off from your temple hunting and Tuk Tuk rides. The ice cream is delicious, really cheap prices for VERY good quality and exotic ice cream. Lots of Chinese and Japanese come here, its very popular and for good reason, it's delicious! I urge you to try the palm fruit ice cream (nothing like you've had before) and the green tea...actually just try it all, it just so good!

We felt like this was a little slice of Japan in Siem Reap. Actually, it was started by a Japanese lady who also established the Madame Sachiko Angkor Cookies, which has a store right behind it. This place offers many types of smoothies, shakes, ice creams, coffees, and teas in a cozy and clean environment. Prices are quite good, too, and the cookie shop nearby has a lot of good, unique deals. There are a lot of tourist stores in this area, but it's near a busy road, so you might feel parched and dusty as you visit them. This is a great place for a breather.

Luckily, this cafe is just beside our hotel! Got to try their Mango shake and Mango with Ice Cream and Shaved Ice (should i say, i love mangoes!/ =) and yes, super yummy! Best shakes & desserts in Siem Reap. Value for money. Perfect place to chill after a long hot day at the temples. Don't forget to also try Angkor Cookies! Free wifi.
