My wife and I had a brief holiday in Siem Reap to visit Angkor Wat. The temples more than lived up to their expectations. But the pleasant surprise was the Anantara Angkor Resort and Spa. It was conveniently located near the airport, but not too far from the town (the hotel provides complementary tuk-tuks). The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. The open spaces were beautifully laid out. The pool and gardens were a pleasure. But by far the best part was the delightful service we experienced. The staff could not have been more obliging, courteous and welcoming. By itself it would make me eager to visit again.

Room Tip: The ground floor rooms open out to the pool.

This small (but beautifully formed) boutique resort offers a perfect escape and an environment of rest and relaxation, away from the constantly chaotic hubbub of tourist crowds, which exist outside. Accommodation is ‘quite lovely’ – subtle, natural materials and tones are used throughout, which aid relaxation.
Breakfasts on offer are ‘excellent’ and the team at the resort (led by Operations Manager, Adin Jaisinghani) are quietly attentive.
Despite the fact that the resort is located a 15-minute tuk-tuk ride from the centre of Siem Riep, guests need not feel isolated as the resort offers a complimentary tuk-tuk service (through use of their own vehicles). Given 10-15 minutes notice, the pleasant and interesting ride to the centre can be completed and when you want to return, a simple phone call (made on the resort supplied mobile phone) ensures a speedy but safe return ‘home’.

Both room and services are amazing! Friendly and knowledgeable staffs, very helpful.

Breakfast is dying for - authentic, good selection, refreshing ... ...

Special thanks to our driver (skinny/tall guy, forgot his name?) - he spent three days with us, always safe and prompt.

Thanks Arkoun អរគុណ ... ... See you next time!

This is a very beautiful hotel and we stayed in a huge room with a lovely whirlpool bath and mats for two person massages. There were also outdoor patios and an extra room for guests or reading. The hotel staff were exceptional in taking care of every need and we dined in the restaurant twice, enjoying the local food immensely. We were able to have a guide take us to Angkor Wat and other temples and arrange an elephant ride. The guide was very knowledgeable and accommodating. The one small criticism I have is that the bathroom sinks were in an area where the light was dim and no makeup mirror provided. On the other hand, the lighting in the bedroom was overly bright and modern. More importantly, the pool is beautiful and we enjoyed swimming and sunbathing and we liked the couples' massage.

My partner and I stayed at this Anantara over a year ago, so things may have improved since then given the rave reviews given on this site. These favourable, if bewildering reviews aside, I can only say what a disappointment this Anantara is. It is more "boutique" style than other Anantara's, and lacks the space and grounds. Sure it has lovely room decor, it is an elegant and simple boutique resort, friendly and attentive staff, but it is so much smaller than many Anantara's and suffers because of this. There is no privacy once out your room. The pool area is more like a fishbowl with EVERY room looking upon the too small pool. There is no garden space, as in other Anantara's, so to be able to wander without having said rooms all around, and to be able to have a space in contrast to the (understandably) harsh environment outside of the hotel. Only one restaurant, again limiting the space for guests to find a quiet spot on premises.

If you have experienced the garden spaces of other Anantara's, and the choice of places to be able to just quietly sit and snack, or have a quiet drink without being in everyone's gaze, then you'll get from where this review is coming from. This Ananatara is a little claustrophobic.

However if you like a "boutique" style hotel, which is small, elegant, intimate, then you'll love it.
