“Arabian luxury and hospitality at its best”
Reviewed 3 January 2012

This is probably the best hotel I have been too. I love it. The lobby is decadent and if you go you should take the time to look up at the amazing domed celing. The rooms are big and clean and exactly as you would expect from a hotel of this quality. The food at the main resturant (olives) is good and the breakfast buffet is fresh and there is a wide choice on offer. The beach bar and grill restaurant serves excellent seafood. The best part of the hotel is the pool and beach area, when I was staying the hotel was apparently fully booked, but the pool area never felt crowded or if there was scrum for the sun beds. There is waiter service around the pool and around the sun beds on the private beach. The architecture of the hotel is fabulous. The only negative points I can think of are: can be a long walk to your room (is that really a negative??, trying to be balanced here..),sometimes you can wait a long time for a taxi - but I think that's a nature of Dubai and not the hotel's fault and when I checked in they made me sit down away from the check-in desk that made me feel anxious that I'd be forgotten, which I was for a bit but not long. All in all though, a great hotel, I will return.

You are of course hard pressed to find a bad hotel in Dubai. They seem to provide the sort of standards others can only dream about, but the One and Only Royal Mirage surpasses all the others.
We stayed in The Palace, which is one of three hotels in the vast area which makes up the One and Only Royal Mirage. The others being The Residence and Spa and the Arabian Court.
From the moment you step through the enormous Arabic studded door and are announced by the booming of a gong, you are transported into another world. That of luxury and unbelievable beauty.
The decor is amazing, the immaculately sculptured grounds are so beautiful and the service by the superbly trained staff is awesome.
Our bedroom was not only stylish, spacious, superbly equipped with top of the range toiletries, but had a bed that you sunk into and didn't really want to leave!
The swimming pools, bars, restaurants and choice of food and drink match anything I have ever encountered before,
We sat under the stars at the Beach Bar and Grill, enjoying lobster and champagne and ate at lunchtime at the picturesque Jetty Lounge or at the Pool Bar. To enjoy all the restaurants and bars in the three locations we would have to have spent a month there instead of five days!
Having stayed at some of the best hotels in Dubai over a ten year period we can safely say that this was the best, however luxury comes at a price and it is not cheap. But, if you don't have it, don't stay there!!
The only fly in the ointments was that one day our daughter and her friend came to visit us at the hotel for the day. She has lived and worked in Dubai for the past ten years. We checked with the desk to make sure that this was in order and were assured that it was. So, we were amazed to receive a bill for 300 dirhams to cover the day. Now we can understand the importance of deterring people from simply deciding to use the hotel for the day, having no connection, but in our case we were paying a lot of money to stay there, and spent still more to wine and dine them in the hotel bars and restaurants. We have never encountered this in any of the other hotels we have stayed at in Dubai. We are hoping to get this refunded.
Other than that, a very special way to escape from the cold English weather!

Room Tip: I don't think this hotel would have anything less than superb rooms!

We stayed at the Royal Mirage in November for a few days after a holiday in Mauritius and it
was better than when we stayed the year before. We had a Club room in the Palace part of the hotel and the room was excellent. We had a separate entrance to the Club part of the hotel
and even had a man who would ring for the lift for you when you came in. The staff could not
be faulted and all seemed to recognise us from the year before, even the lift man!
The reception staff in the Club area were so helpful and very efficient. In the evening we had
free drinks in the club lounge and the staff were very attentive and friendly.
The food in the restaurants was excellent, having half board you could visit their various restuarants in the different parts of the hotel and have either a set meal or money off
the a la carte menu. You really couldnt fault this hotel. We will definitely be coming back again.

Room Tip: There a lot of palm trees in front of the Palace rooms so a room on a higher floor is preferable.

What a way to be introduced to Dubai. After spending more time here, I learned that nearly everything is luxurious and top end here. However, the One & Only remains one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in.

The grounds are stunning, from the gorgeous hallways to the rooms to the beachfront. I was shocked at all the lush green grass and palms. The design is beautiful, the restaurants are excellent, the pools are just perfection. There are many, but I particularly liked the one with palm trees planted inside the pool to provide shade -- amazing.

Highly recommend for a romantic, relaxing sanctuary.

Wonderful hotel, best i have ever stayed in. Rooms are first class, beds amazing, little touches and attention to detail great.

Service impeccable. There are many hotels that present as well, I'm not even sure why this one feels so special! Maybe because they have never disappointed me on 5 visits over 7 years, it's always spot On. Don't hesitate, book here for sunshine and a good time!
