Jumeirah Mina A'Salam
Ranked #44 of 564 Hotels in Dubai
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 26 October 2017

I've stayed at this hotel a couple of times and continue to be really impressed:
- hotel remains clean and staff very friendly
- we had lounge access, which had a separate lounge for families with children; again, the lounge staff were great
- you can go to any of the other Jumeriah hotels in the area, either by abra (boat) or buggy (or walk!)

Room
- clean, plenty of space, well equipped
- we had a very large supering bed as well as a sofa bed and a cot!

Food
- Breakfast - good quality, plenty of options. The selection in the lounges isn't as huge as the main buffets but you can still order items; you can also go to the main buffets if you wanted to
- Plenty of bottled water supplied to the room; water also provided by the pool and beach areas

Facilities
- Absolutely huge gym area with the latest equipment and an indoor swimming pool
- Outdoor pool next to the hotel, plenty of sun loungers with attentive staff
- Beach is also next to the hotel, easy to access, plenty of sun loungers with good staff and lifeguards present; there are water sports available
- Kids club is in the lounge area and essentially a room with not many toys; recommend going to the kids clubs in the adjoining hotels which are quite good.
- Large selection of restaurants; there are also lots of other restaurants in the Jumeriah complex which are all easily accessible (recommend booking if you can).

Overall this was yet another pleasurable stay, we'll certainly be coming back.

Room Tip: We had a room with an ocean view which was great.

We have just returned from a seven night stay at the Mina a'Salam and recommend both the hotel and staff very highly.
We arrived with [wrong] preconceived ideas of the decoration (excess granite and gold) and were met with understated elegance and tradition. Despite this being the largest hotel we have stayed in, it did not feel crowded: guests disperse throughout the Madinat Jumeirah complex of three swimming pools, spa and gym, private beach and grounds.
The staff were all excellent. They were all keen to engage with you to ensure that any needs were met. They were polite, friendly and always smiling.
Our suites were beautifully appointed: spacious with large comfortable beds and pillows, excellent bath and shower facilities, plus good storage, TV etc. The hotel's toiletries were good quality and replenished daily, including extras like lip balm and eye cream. The only 'moan' I would make is that the waffle robes let the room amenities down: fluffy white towelling robes would be much nicer.
We ate in restaurants throughout the Jumeirah Madinat area and can recommend the dine-around half board package: this buys you vouchers for your stay and a choice of 50 or so restaurants. The menu choices are slightly restricted with the vouchers in some restaurants, but you can 'top up' if you want to. There are also supplements to pay for some of the restaurants too: these can be quite pricey so study the dining experience booklet well before deciding where to go. We mixed it up. We highly recommend the Al'Qasar Friday brunch (180 Dirhams pp supplement) - it's well worth the money with a superb selection of cuisines and plenty of alcohol if you want it. Do note that teens under 21 cannot drink alcohol in Dubai, so the brunches are not good value for them.
We stuck with the beach and small pool area at the Mina' - the Jumeirah Beach Hotel had building works going on; the Al Naseem and Al Qasar pool areas attracted the most children and so were noisier (we have teenagers). Beds were always available and the hotel does not allow beds to be reserved unless you're off for lunch etc (hooray!). Cold flannels and ice lollies are offered and water is provided in ice buckets at the beach and by the pool. If I had to be 'picky' I would say that it's a shame they charge you for water after your initial quota - it's not that it's particularly expensive, but seems a tad mean-spirited in 35+ degrees of heat and considering it's free in the rooms.
Would we return to the Mina a'Salam? Yes, although we've 'done' Dubai now, so it might not happen. We are definitely considering the Jumeirah group's hotel in the Maldives, based on our experience in Dubai.
We had a wonderful stay in lovely surroundings with excellent service. Highly recommended.

This was our first visit to Dubai and we booked via Emirates Holidays and took the half board option. Upon arrival customer service was outstanding. Travelling by Abra around the resort was easy and especially when we were given a free tour by our driver the very first time we sat in one. As for the hotel our two Arabian rooms with a interconnecting door were perfect as my son's had their own space and we had ours. Each room was serviced twice a day and was spotless, a credit to the hotel management. All facilities at the resort were excellent and attention to detail spot on from free water and ice creams to an abundance of fresh towels.
As stated before we took the half board option which was fine, paying for drinks on top which as you expect in Dubai do not come cheap. The quality of food and choice was first class.
One thing which is reasonably priced in Dubai is a taxi and we travelled to malls and Atlantis during our visit.
My family stated it was the best holiday of their lives and the Mina A'Salam and rest of the complex are the main reason for that. We cannot wait to return.
