“Stay here, not the Sheraton”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 February 2012

Agree with everyone else, this place has something special. Do go anywhere near the adjacent Sheraton.

Room Tip: Don't worry about the room, it's all about the attitude.

We decided to book at the Le Royal Meridien encouraged by the raving reviews it had received (having previously stayed at Jumeriah group hotels in Dubai).
Must say we were not disappointed as almost everything went to plan.
We stayed at the deluxe suite which was very nice and spacious. Travelling with two kids, one of whom is already old enough to qualify as an adult in the hotel (12+) the suite offered plenty of room for four people to not only sleep but to spend some time in. Also, the check in in the suite is a nice touch after a long flight. You are just ushered in the suite and all documents and luggage is delivered later.
Beds deserve a special mention, must be amongst the best we've slept in a hotel. No back pain, which usually is a given in hotels for me.
We saw some mentions of the on going construction work in the other reviews, but for once, a lower floor proved excellent - view to the pool and the Atlantis, but low enough (1st floor) to have all the contruction blocked out of view.
The pool area is the best we've spent time in. Always enough sun loungers, excellent food (on pool side standards) and helpful staff.
Breakfast is also good as far as selection is concerned but does get crowded - we ate at the Brasserie, other otions are available - so advice is to get in early. This is where a small drawback was also evidenced. The service at breakfast is erratic at best. 5 out of 7 mornings we had to chase for our hot drinks and the order was wrong more than once. But you forgive once you get out to the pool...
Staff is very polite and helpful but if I was left wanting one thing it was the explanation of what is available. I tend to take it for granted that when we are staying at a 5-star staff either delivers whatever is/should be included or lets you know about it. Examples; a complimentary bottle of wine was included but never delivered or even offered (I only remebered when I went though the documents once back home), also, small children were offered "coins" for buying ice cream at the pool. We learnt about this from some friends, but our younger one was never offered these. I queried at check out (admittedly too late) and was offered an apology. Which, I guess, is one way of dealing with it.
So be aware of what is inlcuded as you may have to request for it separately.
Overall, minor drawbacks. The hotel is very good. Would have been a slam dunk was it not for the breakfast service and the lack of "perks" that should have been there. Will know better next time.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on Trip Advisor.

We were delighted to hear that, having stayed with us with your two children, you found your room to be comfortable and spacious enough to accommodate the four of you and that you experienced a seamless check in experience.

We were also happy to read that you enjoyed the selection and choice of food in our Brasserie restaurant and that you particularly enjoyed spending your time around the pool area with your family.

I am sorry to hear that you felt a little crowded and whilst we have three separate breakfast restaurants the change in weather conditions meant that on a number of days we were unable to use the outdoor terrace areas. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Your constructive comments are very much appreciated and I will be sure to address your concerns with the appropriate managers to ensure that the proper training measures are carried out.

Thank you once again and we hope to welcome you back again in the not too distant future.

Kind regards,
Pam Wilby

I have been lucky enough to stay at this hotel three times, the last time was the best, which was beginning of sep' 11, I just had not managed to write a review up until now. On this trip I stayed in the tower rooms in an inter-connecting room with my four children. I preffered these rooms to the club rooms which I had stayed in on my first trip, the rooms seemed larger, although we would always choose to have breakfast in the club tower, which i think is the best place to have breakfast, and amazingly two members of staff remembered us although it had been a year since our last visit! I completely understand why the hotel continues to win awards, the service is second to none. Each day we received fresh fruit in our rooms as well as complimentary cakes or fresh chocolate truffles. Each night when the beds are turned down, a little ribboned box with chocolates is left by each bedside, as well as plenty of complementary bottled water. Towels are changed each day but you can call housekeeping at anytime for any extra cleaning or more towels etc. the hotel grounds are beautifully maintained, with a number of pools, which were never over crowded. Additionally a golf buggy service to and from the private beach is available to all the guests and is fast and punctual. The attention to detail is what makes this hotel supersede others, complimentary ice slush drinks handed out round the poolside, as well as cold flannels to help cool down and water spritzer bottles. Food is brilliant, and our requests to the chef were always welcomed and delivered to our table, with our evening meal. Standards in the brasserie, the main restaurant for evening meals for those staying half board, are exceptionally high and a very special experience. The jacuzzi, sauna and steam and hammam pools are complementary and simply beautiful and of an extremely high standard, pure luxury. Of an evening the corridors and lobby are alight with candles, piano music plays lightly in the background and staff are on hand to help and advise at all times. The standard of the rooms was lovely, beds are the most comfy eager and the linen is luxurious. The bathrooms are also exceptionally nice. The staff were ever to please and enquired about our stay so far, midway through our stay, and happily accomodated me, in a few of my special requirements including a Lovely complimentary birthday cake. Truly lovely and wonderful experience, I cannot believe anyone would have a bad word to say about this hotel. From the moment you step inside this hotel it's pure luxury and one feels very special.

Room Tip: The tower rooms were my favourite, with a sea view. There are a choice of restaurants where one can h...

Probably one of the nicest and best hotels I have stayed in. Great service and the rooms are top class, very spacious and cleaned regularly. Provided with everything you could need. Nice grounds and a nice walk down to the beach. Great location too. Would definitely recommend and would love to return some time!

Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort is the property where I stay when on business in Dubai. This last stay was my 5th. Every stay is the same - outstanding. The hotel is great, the location is great, the rooms are great, etc....The single most distinguishing feature of this hotel is it's staff. I have stayed a many hotels all over the world and without question the staff at Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort is the best I have ever encountered. They are competent, attentive, and friendly. Every single member of staff, from the front desk to the maintenance crews always ask if there is anything they can do, and if requested go out their way to meet your needs. Staying at this location makes long trip comfortable and relaxing. I highly recommend this location.
