Millennium Plaza Hotel Dubai

Spend 2 nights here for business reasons and mainly chose it for its location. As you can see from previous reviews this is quite a new hotel and a dry one which isn't an issue with me. Here are my thoughts

Pros
Located right outside is the Emirate Towers Metro Station.

Cons
1) Hard to find for Taxi drivers. (this will probably improve over time and more drivers start to know its location)

2) Poor furnitures. as mentioned before some of the furnitures are old and in poor condition, clearly taken from another hotel.

3) very poor fittings, the wash basin was loose and was moving around during use and on the last night of use the whole sink drain trap detached and waste water flowed onto the floor.

4) No hot water! - called maintainance and observed what he did to solve it. Basically all the taps to full for hot water and wait for 10 mins before there was any.

5) The elevators was very loud and can be heard from quite far away

6) Breakfast was on the 5th floor Metro restaurant, average food and slow service

7) The staff was friendly enough but the valet didn't speak very good english and when i asked for a card to show taxi drivers i was basically asked to go myself to the front desk to get it.

8) WIFI was slow and kept dropping.

9) The front desk upon checking out asked if there was any issues and when i mentioned the above issues ie wash basin, hot water and furniture the reply was like "oh ok we know about these issues" No apologies nor solutions was offered, why did you bothered to ask in the first place.

A poor experience of this hotel and there is plently of choice in Dubai, will not be coming back.

We stayed at the hotel for 7 nights in early February and early March 2012. On 4th Febraury we arrived at 7 am in the morning. As check in was later in the day, the duty manager, Arun Pillai made every effort to get a room for us and he did so and even upgraded us to a club room. Mr. A run was excellent is his service, professionalism and kindness. I must also make special mention of Chiarra at reception, who was very kind and provided an excellent service.
The room was good on a high floor overlooking the city, and our return we had a same room but overlooking the sea.
Breakfast had a good mix of food though the staff did not offer us tea or coffee unless we requested it..
Found the seating area in the Lobby area very limited and on many occasions we had no where to sit.
The location of the hotel is excellent, right in front of the Emirates Towers station and very close to Dubai Mall, Burg Kalifa etc.
Taxis found it difficult to find the new hotel, especially since the front entrance is hidden behind the entrance to the train station and the hotel sugars is not clearly visible from the road.
The hotel provided good value for money but may not suit guests who require liquor as it is "dry".
Generally good overall.

Room Tip: High floor. Club rooms are big and good. The hotel does not have free wi fi which is very expensive...

The rooms are large, spacious and very clean however in order to get hot water I had to run all the taps for 10 minutes which seemed incredibly wasteful. The breakfast was excellent with plenty choice, we also enjoyed a buffet lunch at the hotel. It is a 'dry' hotel but the Crowne Plaza is only 4-5 minutes walk away if you are in desperate need of a G&T. The metro is right outside the property with easy access to the airport, malls etc.
The pool area is nice but as a female lone traveller I did not feel particularly comfortable walking over to the multi storey car park to access it.

We just came back from Dubai and wanted to make some comments about this beautiful hotel.
-The staff was very helpful from first minute until C/Out.
-The room was nice.
-Breakfast and dinner was good.
-WIFI was ok.

During C/in, our stay and c/out, the FO team was very helpful to us, specially Mr. Sandeep, Mr. Victor and Ms. Mava.
We've got only breakfast and room service during our stay, we couldn't try health club or spa. Breakfast is open buffet and they have so many options to eat or drink. Definitely it's a 5 stars breakfast. Only I can tell something for staff that it's not good to walk inside of tables all the time to take empties from tables. I was feeling like, they're counting how much I eat. Give some space to peoples to have their breakfast. And Tea-Coffie service is slow. Either leave the tea-coffee pots on tables or make a big one on buffet table.

If we talk about staff in the hotel than I agree with some previous comments that they have so many things to learn as they're a new team. But they're doing well for now and they're ready to help you for your requirements.

We stayed on 40th floor with a city view room and I can say the room was nice, comfortable and clean. You have a big and comfortable bad, LCD Tv which you can watch from all around the room and a nice bathroom with bathtub and shower. I'm not talking about other things like safebox, minibar, tea- coffee setup, etc. as you have all of them in the room.

Internet connection was little bit slow. I believe, they have 12 or 16Mpbs speed in the hotel but pages were coming slow. It can be a configuration problem on the system and I think they'll solve it soon.

And just want to add a note about dry hotel thing that there is no criteria to have a bar on a 5 stars hotel. It's not a criteria to have 5 stars. And I believe you can't judge the hotel because of they don't have bar or night club? It's locating on a Arabian Country, if you want to drink and have fun on a night club than go to some other Europe countries.

Shortly, hotel is very nice, location is perfect and they have small maintenance things to do in the rooms.
