Booked it for cheap during the Ramadan (non peak) period. Only 800 AED per night (for 2 person) without breakfast. As hotel guests ,the free entries to it's attractions already covered the cost of this 800 AED so it's super duper worth it! Of course I got the cheapest room, but at this hotel... the cheapest room is already a luxurius suite by itself.

When you first arrive at the Atlantis, you cant help but be extremely impressed by the whole Location and design!.
The Positives - Design - Aquaventure - Lost Chambers. We went with 2 young children (3 and 5) They loved the experience.
The developmental points! - Guest service was terrible! The place is so big that there is absolutely no interaction or personal service. The concentration seems to be on getting as many rooms full as possible with customer focus taking a back seat!.

Our check in was smooth, but again staff were just doing a job - no friendliness!

On arrival to our room - i thought this is nice, but we had just stayed 3 nights at the Westin Mina Seyahi - rooms at Westin were 100 fold better and more modern!

Breakfast - SHOCK HORROR!! - we walked towards one of the numerous restaurants available for breakfast................ there were 40 + people in the queue !!! (IS THIS A FIVE STAR HOTEL OR PIZZA HUT AT THE BULL RING BIRMINGHAM!!!)
When you pay to stay 5 star you shouldn't be queuing!!
Once in the Keleidoscope Restaurant the food was good and a great variety.

This was the same the following day!

Dinner was a more pleasant experience! although still very busy!

Checkout!
I called the reception to advise that we were checking out and could they send somebody to collect suitecases.
we were told it would be at least 20 minutes before anybody could do this.
We decided to take them down ourselves and saw 8- 10 bell boys just standing there!.

OVERALL I WOULD NOT STAY HERE AGAIN, THE WESTIN WAS SO MUCH MORE PERSONABLE AND LUXURIOUS! HOWEVER AQUAVENTURE WAS GREAT!

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights in July & had a lovely experience. As you enter the lobby, the grandness of this hotel greets you with a huge artistic type tree right in the center. A floor below, they have an aquarium with the most exotic sea-life, all inside the hotel!! Also part of the hotel is a water park with all the best rides, and a dolphin experience (chargeable), where you can swim with dolphins! They have a superb beach and even better pool, but thats only if Dubai heat permits!

The room is very big / spacious and super comfortable, but it would be criminal to stay here and not make use of the hotel's facilities, which are easily amongst the world's best!

I was recommended very strongly not to miss their breakfast, and I'm glad I didn't. I have never seen a bigger breakfast spread in all my travels. They have easily over 10 international cuisine breakfast spreads and an option of 2 restaurants for breakfast which runs till 11 - 11:30am (nice for late risers like us).

Their staff is very courteous and really make you feel welcome.
The only downer is: Due to its huge size, the hotel is packed with guests! So be prepared to wait in line for almost everything - check in lines, concierge lines, breakfast venue lines etc.

Another nice thing was they provide free shuttle service from the hotel to major malls and back, but be there a little before their designated pick-up time, as these tend to fill up very quickly.

All in all, we loved our stay here and would strongly recommend it to anyone!

Not just yet dear reader, read on to get the result! 3 nights in Atlentis and 2 nights JBH 2 adults 3 children (12,10,8).

Arrived 8am to Atlantis, impressive lobby but very busy and chaotic, they have now got their act together and most check in desks open, only 5 minutes in queue before being told our rooms werent ready (2 interconnecting rooms) we could have non interconnecting rooms immediately but chose to wait. We were directed to the hospitality lounge which was far too small for such a big hotel but very good facilities nevertheless. WE simply put out handbags in lockers, put on swimmers and sunblock and hit the pool and beach. The pools are simply impressive, chilled to a lovely temperature with loads of lifeguards, all of which were very friendly and watchfull. Beach was lovely but too hot as was the sea, plus jelly fish were present.

Loads of sunloungers free despite >80% occupancy, clean big towels. lovely couple of hours before having a poolside lunch. We knew it was expensive so were prepared for prices therefore not a shock, afterall it is 5 star and isolated on the palm so what do you expect! food was simple, quick and good service. WE were told our rooms were ready so after lunch went to rooms. Very good indeed, large, good facilities and freebees and interconnecting-no problems there at all, turn down serivice evry night, daily prompt cleaning, loads of free water, great showers, great views, no complaints!

Water park was fantastic, catch a buggy from the beach, they put a bracelet on you and you bypass all the queues. REally very impressed with water park, big, clean not busy, minimal waiting for rides, the river and rapids and torrent beach great. the kids loved just going around and round, drinks very pricey indeed but so what your on holiday mentality is the best mindset. Lifeguards very good, they would get in the river and play with the kids, we all felt very safe indeed.

We did the dolphin experience worked out at over £600 for 5 of us! it was just our family we told a little white lie to get our youngest in as there was an age limit. It was truely a memorable experience and I would thoroughly recommend the deep water experience, pay more get a lot more.

Food in hotel buffet was amazing, huge range, we paid half board which was the best thing to do as otherwise it would have been simply too expensive otherwise. Kaleidoscope is better than saffron, but saffron still good. bottle of house wine 120 UED was good, bottle of water for kids 28UED-not too bad. kids loved the buffet and chocolate fountain especially. we went to one restaurant the italian one as we could use our vouchers, the food was average at best at at nearly £40 for monkfish per person was really a rip off, the pizzas were ok, starters poor, pudding ok. Dont waste your money, pay for half board and go to buffet! Besides kids dont want to hand around in restaurants.

Check out easy, bill accurate, 25 UED to JBH. again interconnecting rooms not ready so upgraded to a 2 bedroomed suite-WOW! huge with a massive balcony they are the rooms at the ends of the hotel with great views. The freebees were much better at JBH, rooms better, turn down service etc. As part of suite we had loung access which was great, kids loved the computers and games room, we loved the nipples and wine! Shopping center across the road meant for nice strolls at night with good priced restaurants.

Executive pool nice but too far away, other pools better, smaller that atlantis and busier. good lifeguards(but appeared bored and uninterested) Wild Wadi after Atlantis waterpark was as my 10 year old said was "really lame" in fact very disappointing.

PROS and CONS
Atlantis: huge, lacked personal touch, service good, food good, facilities amazing, busy but absorbed everyone, pools great, waterpark fantastic rather expensive.

JBH. Large hotel, more personal touches, better freebees in room, better price, seamed more busy around pools but just seamed to lack something after Atlantis, Wild Wadi very poor. better value.

And the winner is............. The Atlantis by a vote of 3 (1 adult 2 kids) to 2 (1 adult,1 kid).
But really they are both great hotels and a stay in either is highly recommended, I would recommend a 3 night at Atlantis and 2 in JBH Take lots of money and expect high prices

There is space enough for everyone; whether you want a beach, pool, water park, shopping or the fabulous dolphins. There are plenty of food options with the many restaurants and the aquariums are excellent
