After traveling through Iran for a few weeks we ended up in Esfahan for a day and visited this famous square. We were disappointed in the atmosphere we came across. The only experience we’ve had with the Iranians was so wonderfull, respectfully and loving that the encounters at the square made us want to leave as quickly as possible. Apparently everyone working here has a cousin in some Dutch city and after trying to make small talk about your country they invite you for tea, and all of a sudden they are selling you their stuff.. that said, the most annoying part of it all is when they are annoyed when you tell them you don’t want to buy anything. We left the square, left Isfahan and went back to Iran the next morning!

We spent one full day just near the square. This is a massive square lined with bazaar around it and it takes a lot of time to explore all the unique shops.
The best bazaar (with a lot of artistic shop) in Iran I reckon and we got most of our souvenirs here. This is the perfect place to buy things, don't wait for Yazd and Shiraz you will regret it...

A masterpiece of Iranian authenticity. Getting in the markets of it will bring out fatigue out of the body as well as the most enjoyable work of the world.

Top of my list for must see in Esfahan is always Naqshe Jahan Square. Great shops, great architecture, great landscaping. Good for a casual picnic or dining at one of the restaurants. I could (and have) spend hours here every day!

Great place to wander about. You might get some attention from sellers but most of them are respectful and not too ongoing. The view is great both during daytime and at night.
