Jawhary, the family name of the owners, means "jeweler" in Arabic; and sweets are indeed sort of edible and delicious jewels. Try the "Nammoura bi Ashta" one of the best specialities you find only in Baalbeck.

If one comes to Baalbeck, in addition to the "RUINS". three places need to be visited in the city, "Ajami" restaurant, "jawhari sweets" and "sfeeha" parlor. Jawhari makes a very unique kind of sweets called "namoora b kashta" which is a sweet known in Lebanon, but only the first part but "kashta" is what makes it different. It is cream from the milk condensed naturally, which gives this sweet a unique taste. it is something of a treat" I wouldn't recommend it for those with diabetes. Jawhari can be trusted with this treat. They never failed their customers at least as far as I know.

Found in 1967 in Baalbeck Souks area, small familly business turned to be a famous dessert shop. A variety of oriental sweets are offered, including Sfouf, Nammora, fried sweets, Beklawa, Knefe and many other breath taking desserts.
Try Nammora bel Ashta, it's one of the best selling sweets in this shop. The prices are very good, you can have a delious and satisfactory dessert for less than 3$ per person. Coffe and tea are also offered.
