I thought I would go a little upmarket from Villa King Kham which was already very good, so I booked two nights at this hotel through Agoda.
What a huge disappointment.
The owner inherited this hotel. He is a very decent chap, and I am sorry that I must write this very poor review.
I have spoken honestly to the owner, and I suggested he sell the place as it is in need of renovation, and clearly there are no funds to do this.
I slept one night, it was alright, quiet enough, bed comfortable.
The breakfast was two boiled eggs, and a piece of hard french bread with jam and butter. It was somewhat 'down market'.
It's a hotel the 'once was', decaying, and falling.
A fellow traveller said he stayed here a few years before when it was in a better state of repair, and a standard it was supposed to be.
I went into town and found a guest house with equal comfort for less than a third of the price, so cheap in fact, so convenient, that I did not stay the second night at Villa Ban Lao, rather accepted the loss, and went for a better experience.More
