Visited this monastery which is made out of teak . The workmanship is truely impressive and a credit to the craftsmen. This is the only remaining original part of the Mandalay palace as the king had it moved 7 years before WW2 to its site where it now sits and the rest of the palace structures were ruined during the war . A truly amazing structure

Beautiful traditional Burmese style wooden monastery. Called the Golden Palace Monastery due to the palace was completely gilded. Intricate wood carvings in the interior.

A fully made of wood palace, very ornate work and it has to be appreciated. but if you are short of time you can chose to skip it.

This temple was moved to outside the walls of the palace and escaped being flattened during the war. It is relatively small and constructed entirely in teak with superb carvings.
Very peaceful and well worth a visit. Take another 20 minutes to go around the grounds and see the craftsmen, and women, re-carving pieces to restore the temple.

This is a very ornate monastery and the inside was covered in gold. It is currently being restored but this does not detract from its beauty.
