Dear Guest,

Bar Sinatra is just hiring the place. They are an independent company. They are not connected with the hotel.
We are not responsible for their way of managing.

Changed room twice to finally get a decent room. First room we could hear banging. When I called down to reception she said she would call back. We went down to reception and were able to get a different room. The staff at reception seemed frazzled and unfriendly. They took our card keys and gave us new ones. We told them our things were still in the first room, but they told us the bellboy would let us in, so up to the room we went. Of course, he had no way to get in, so we waited in the hall while he went back down to get the key.
We noticed the room had a strange smell, but as we were meeting others to go to dinner, we dropped our bags and left. When we returned we still noticed the smell, but were tired and needed sleep.
The next day after arriving after touring it seemed as if the air conditioning wasn’t working. That’s when we moved for the second time. Finally a room with no banging, no smell, and AC that works.
The breakfast was disappointing. Lots of food, but not very appealing.
The best thing about the hotel is the location near the end of the walking street with shops and restaurants.

Inadequate air conditioning.
Shabby interior of rooms which had a peculiar layout.
Uncomfortable beds.
Tacky feel to the hotel.
Poorly trained front desk staff.
Bad smell within the rooms which may be coming from the air conditioning.
Good location.
Generally uncomfortable.

Dear guest,

The air conditioning is central for the hotel and it works on periods. We work on improving it.
The front desk staff is all new and needs time to be trained. Sorry about that.
We will let the Housekeeping department know for the smell so they can see what is the reason.

The two stars are based on the following:
1 star for service
1 star for the swimming pool

The rest of the hotel is not worth rating. It is in serious need of refurbishment and, quite frankly, a really good clean.

It clearly used to be a high point of a stay in Plovdiv but when entering the hotel it is like walking into the 90s and nothing has been updated since then. The beds were uncomfortable, the bathrooms door had bits missing, the shower had no power and everywhere needed some love and attention.

We had a problem with our first room which clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly and the reception staff were excellent in switching us to an upgraded room straight away with minimal fuss. The second room was better, but the next morning we noticed some belongings of the previous occupant had been left in the room! It was our final day and we didn’t want to complain again so we left it after already changing rooms once.

The pool was excellent; beautiful views and again great service. I feel that the service is certainly one hundred times better than the hotel and the staff deserve a raise!

The final nail in the coffin was the director/manager of the hotel sitting down to breakfast each morning with (who I assume to be) his mother. Whilst staff were running around helping others guests and the rest of the hotel needed money and time spent on it, he sat with his own personal waiter who even buttered his toast for him! I feel like the priority needs to probably be spent of a much needed renovation rather than pandering to the director’s every whim.

Having read so many mediocre reviews I had lowered my expectations but we certainly enjoyed our four night stay here running a small group.

The hotel looks impressive from the outside and our third floor room overlooked the front car park with the old town of Plovdiv in the distance. Room 306 was large, simply furnished with a comfortable bed and large bathroom. The room was bright and airy and the air conditioning worked well in the fierce heat, the out door swimming pool looked very inviting but sadly we had no time for that.

Yes, maybe it is a little "old fashioned" but I would not have expected the height of luxury, really the only thing missing is a room safe and I guess as the hotel is updated further these will be installed some time.

The Casino is at the rear of the hotel with prominent signage. It was of not interest to us but did not in any way disturb us.

Breakfast can get very busy at some times, we managed to avoid the busy periods. There was a good selection of hot and cold food and staff were friendly and efficient.

We would have no hesitation in staying here again.

Room Tip: Front rooms overlook Old Town, rear rooms the swimming pool
