Stunning view, lovely room (had the Olympos Suite), probably the best service (honest, positive, ambitious, with a hart) I ever had. The cooked breakfast was first class. Probably cooked at the upscale restaurant downstairs. Location is perfect. I'm very happy I decided for this hotel.

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The location is perfect for the beach, a walk, an array of restaurants and just a bus ride away from the Old City Walls of Dubrovnik. Dont be deceived by the exterior view of the hotel as behind the facade lies a quiet, peaceful, relaxing ambience where the staff offer a genuine warm welcome and enjoy helping their guests receive a high quality service. With stunning views of the bay from the terrace area this small hotel competes easily with the larger establishments and I would not hesitate to return to Villa Wolff again in the future.

Room Tip: Corner suites are larger.

Spent 4 days at Hotel Villa Wolff for a part of my honeymoon and found the service lacking. The worst part was our last night when the air conditioning failed so badly that my husband and I woke up. Dubrovnik is HOT at night: we couldn't sleep from 2-5am.

We had the lone front desk person verify that, indeed, it was broken and that, indeed, she could not fix it. In the morning, the manager turned on the charm and said she would have added flowers and champagne on the house if she had known it was my honeymoon. In fact, I told the person at checkin-- another sign that communication was poor. In the end, the manager contacted the owner who, of course, wasn't available to apologize and discuss a refund. I gave them a week to contact me with any messages before I wrote a poor Tripadvisor review. Guess what? No news yet, almost 2 weeks after my stay.

What's the final message? The location was great, but for a true four-star experience, you should look elsewhere in Lapad. There are too many competitors nearby not to look. If you do decide on Villa Wolff, just cross you fingers that nothing goes wrong.

Best part:
- free hotel breakfast
- view from terrace
- location and proximity to the beach (make sure you walk around the peninsula on the footpath. Beautiful!)

Worst part:
- Difficult to find the hotel (you have to drive to the Lapad beach and find the hotel on foot, get a parking pass... very tough)
- Poor communication between staff
- Inability to deliver four-star service, though I paid four-star prices

Room Tip: Avoid Parnassos, which shares a wall with the bar and gets a bit noisy at night

We arrived by car after sunset and Hotel Villa Wolff was extremely difficult to find as there are no signs (unlike for the other hotels in the Lapad area) and it is located on a pedestrian walkway rather than a road. We called the hotel to help 'guide us in' but the receptionist struggled to give us directions. She did then come out to us as we were close by which we appreciated but then told us to hurry along with our heavy cases as there were no other staff at the hotel which was not so appreciated! There is no parking outside the hotel, instead you have to park in a general car park approx. 500 metres away. The hotel gave us a ticket to display in the car windscreen with no mention of a charge until the following day when we checked out. So if arriving by car do note that there is a car parking charge.

We stayed in the Zeus room. Whilst the room was a reasonable size we didn't find the room particularly clean e.g. there were 2 contact lens in the carpet by the bedside cabinet. Also we had requested a double room and they had just pushed 2 (very soft) single beds together still with their separate sheets. The room overlooked Hotel Kompass where live music was being played outside until 11.30pm-12am.

There is a nice terrace where breakfast is served. The breakfast selection included freshly cooked eggs, cereals, hard/soft breads with jam/spreads etc. It was OK but not as good as other places we had stayed at when across the border in Montenegro.

Please note that there is a long flight of steps to climb to get to the hotel. And look out for the swallows nesting in the window awnings :-)

Perhaps we were unlucky with the room we were allocated but on balance we would not stay at Villa Wolff again (whether or not arriving by car)
