This is a grand old hotel - circa 1960 something. The rooms are large which is great. We had a suite with a sea view balcony - it had 12-16ft ceilings and was massive. The location is very good - maybe a 10 minute walk to the old city, though the way back is uphill most of the way. That's about the extent of the good things I can say, though.

The staff were unfriendly everywhere. The front desk, the breakfast, the beach restaurant. Not a smile anywhere. The pool is down at the ocean so when it's windy the waves rush onto the deck and they block it off so no pool. The breakfast is lackluster at best. Poor selection and low quality food. The service dismal - trying to get a coffee with breakfast is painful.

The housekeepers do a bare bones job - a quick tidy. Empty bottles and cans are left behind. The 'turn down' service is literally folding over the corner of the duvet so that you know that they were there and leaving a chocolate.

Dubrovnik is overpriced to start with but the restaurants in the hotel are insane. A burger is about $30 - Caprese salad the same. Gimme a break.

Would not stay here again. The Excelsior down the block is owned by the same hotel group - not sure what the deal on them is.

Stayed for 6 nights with my son. Lovely room with a balcony on the 5th floor with stunning views across the sea to Dubrovnik Old Town. It is a ten minute walk to town and all The Game of Thrones locations are easily found.

The staff were tremendous, particularly the guys by the pool who somehow manage to juggle drinks orders with supplying towels and sunbeds - full credit to them.

Dubrovnik itself is stunning! It is expensive though and we couldn't find a pint for under £6 and the food was expensive too. However, everywhere we went justified the cost.

Do go up the mountain behind the town. The Panorama Bar there gives breath-taking views. We chose to walk up which is a challenge but I found perfectly acceptable at 62!! There are also Buggy trips available at the summit, self-drive, which were fantastic. The guide take you to places you wouldn't normally see including a fort used in the 1991/2 conflict which, still shows the shell damage!

The only criticism I have of the hotel is the constant Wasp bombardment at breakfast. It's incessant. Please put some Wasp traps up to keep them amused rather than trying to saw through the bacon on guests plates.

I would most certainly return though Wasps and all!

Room tip: Get a sea view room on the 6th or 7th floors. The views are much better with no obstructions from the canopy over the outside restaurant

The Grand Villa Argentina Is perfectly located. The property is very well appointed and the rooms facing the Adriatic Sea are nothing short of breathtaking. I will start by saying that we will definitely make this a yearly trip. The Argentina has maintained that old Croatian charm as opposed to the new and modern hotels. The access to its beach is seamless and once you are there the staff at the beach are very attentive to your needs. That is true of all the staff we interacted with. Breakfast was a delight each and every morning. The views from the main restaurant are surreal, magical. We had dinner at the Victoria Lounge twice. I highly recommend you do as well. Excellent food and Service. Once again, the views are unsurpassed. Magical.
We stayed for two weeks and I must admit it wasn’t long enough. We went late Season and it seemed like we were not the only ones trying to capture a Summer holiday experience. Covid restrictions had not allowed us to travel to Europe and we were delighted to find this jewel of a Hotel in this jewel of a City. The staff at first seemed a bit overwhelmed but never lost their professionalism, courtesy and friendliness. Initially there were a few “hiccups “ but management more than made up for it. We usually book through Amex Travel. However, this time around we had to book through a travel site due to Amex Travel inability to help us book our stay. I know that makes a difference. At any rate, We were welcomed as VIP’s and the experience continued throughout our stay. GORGEOUS views from our suite. Breathtaking to say the least. There are many choices in Dubrovnik, but for us, The Argentina will always be the property to stay while in the City. Unsurpassed quality, cleanliness, SERVICE, food and attention to detail. We normally stay at Amex Prefered Properties while traveling to Europe. It really baffles me me why The Argentina is not one of them. They met and exceed all our expectations. We visited other 5 Star Hotel lounges for drinks and such but found them to be cold and a bit insipid. The Argentina has retained the charm of the City. A short, beautiful walk to the Old Town is a big perk, an enjoyment.
We want to thank and acknowledge the staff and management for making our stay a most memorable one. You truly went above and beyond. It is you the staff and management that create the experience. I’m sure we are not the only ones to be able to say this. BRAVO!
One more recommendation, do take the Car Service to and from the Airport. Well worth it an very reasonable.
We will see you next Summer!

Room tip: Suite with a view of view of The Adriatic Sea. Preferably with a terrace

Having stayed at Grand Villa Argentina, I will never stay elsewhere in Dubrovnik. The whole experience was just exquisite. Hotel grounds and the beach are just magnificent. Unparalleled views of Dubrovnik Old Town, Lokrum island, and the Adriatic from the breakfast terrace, hotel beach, and rooms. The breakfast was excellent, offering top quality produce, including Dalmatian prosciutto and a variety of local cheeses. Cocktails are best we had in years, and would highly recommend watching the sunset while sipping cocktails at one of hotel terraces. Finally, the staff are most kind ever.
