We stayed for one week on a half board basis and would definitely recommend the Valamar Argosy. Reception area is modern and bright, and open plan with a lobby bar and lots of lots of seating areas with unusual armchairs/lounge beds, footstools etc.
Check in was quick and easy and we were allocated a room on the fourth floor, easy to get to using the lift. Our room (440) was really quiet and had a balcony facing onto trees, so no view as as such but it did catch the sun, having said that the views from the pool area is absolutely stunning so we spent most of our time there. Watch the sunset from the pool area and you will not be disappointed, breath-taking!! Sit on a sun lounger of which there are plenty or choose a four poster cushioned bed with drapes if you prefer? You can also watch the boats passing, including cruise liners which is impressive as the sail slowly past.
We ate in the restaurant and the pool snack bar - food was very good - no complaints.
Drinks are about the same as home so no Happy Hours or Buy One Get One Free etc. and found that the prices overall in Dubrovnik were similar wherever we went.
The bus journey into Dubrovnik is so easy, buy tickets at the hotel shop or on the bus itself, the hotel is the last/first stop so no need to worry about where to get off.
Dubrovnik Old Town is beautiful, although can be busy the days that cruise ships are in, but an absolute must to visit, easy to do on your own or as part of the many tours you can take. Found a great little bar - Bar Buza, literally hanging on the side of the cliffs with views out across the water, we watched sea kayakers and Galleons go by.
Also worth doing from the hotel are the coastal walks - turn right to go towards Coral Beach and Copacobana Beach and left will take you along the Hotel More where you can visit The Cave Bar, again an absolute must visit, great to sit outside and watch the sunset but absolutely go inside as see the stalagmites and feel the cave vibe.
Location, views and comfort of hotel were first class. Staff are polite and helpful they are more reserved than some other places I have visited but I really liked the way they were there if needed but not annoying or pushy which is exactly what we wanted on what was a very relaxing holiday. Will definitely stay at the Valamar Argosy again, did visit the sister hotel The President, absolutely stunning and worth visiting but not sure I'd feel the need to stay there as preferred the more relaxed vine at The Argosy.

Wonderful holiday at the Argosy hotel! Spotless clean, lovely food with so much choice. Really enjoyed our holiday, would certainly recommend. Bus stop just 100 yds away with a bus every 15 mins into Dubrovnik.

We stayed here for 4 nights and it was great. The hotel is quite nice and staff were helpful. The room was nice but the aircon seemed to struggle just a bit...not a deal breaker. There is a bus you can take to the old city. Get the tickets on the lobby shop. You will get a seat on the way down but coming back from the old town...the bus will be packed. The pool is good...not quite as big as in the pics but still ok. We found the water a bit cold for us. There is a Coba cabana beach..or pebbles...rock beach that you can walk down. But you have to take cash or card to pay. Bring your reef shoes as well. We went to the valamad President next door which is nice.
The only thing we did not like was the restaurant at the hotel only does buffet dinner. The bar services food but the choices are limited. Overall a great stay.

Stayed here for 3 nights and could not fault this hotel. Room (207) was perfect with a comfortable bed, modern shower room with lots of amenities and a side sea view which was beautiful. We did not experience any noise at all from our room. There are lots of relaxing chill out areas in the hotel which is perfect for a relaxing break. The best part of the hotel is the infinity pool area with it’s amazing views and ample sun loungers. Just beautiful!
You can get the number 6 bus to Dubrovnik old town for around £3 which takes about 10/15 mins. The sister hotel next door, the President is perfect for watching the amazing sunsets and enjoying a drink on the terrace.
We stayed B&B, the restaurant is large and modern. There is a half board option which is buffet style. There is no separate restaurant for al-a-carte but there are restaurants and bars a short stroll away. We loved this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting beautiful Dubrovnik.

just got back yesterday, on arrival was amazed at the quality of the hotel for a package holiday we were b & b and the variety & choice was amazing the staff were lovely in the restaurant and coped really well after the horrendas storm damaged the hotel restaurant & i believe some of the rooms we were o.k. in room 203 very quiet room tho no sun at all on veranda as it looked out onto large trees but that said a lovely room very good bed lovely shower water hot at all times. with a lot of extras provided, the reception staff pleasant and helpful, it is a very expensive place to eat and drink in babin kuk i found the local food not to my taste, pasta, rissotto, chicken, fish and a huge lack of veg unless you like peppers and aubergine heard from other guests the hotel food was very good in the evenings.you can use all the facilities at the sister hotel the president which has a beach, comfortable beach beds & as with both hotels a beach or pool towel service,.the gift shop through the park has a god rate of exchange from euro or sterling to kuna and the lady there is kind and helpful with advice about trips etc.the trip shop is in this arcade of shops and bars the guy that runs it is a history lesson very helpful we found the trips we did well organised and great,.a must under your own steam is cavat, bus tickets to dubrovnik from the gift shop in the park bus no 6 down to the harbour 80 kuna for the boat 50 mins to cavat a beautiful resort (as i imagened croatia to be) go early last boat back 4-30 as it's the end of their season .we found dubrovnik a bit of a let down supposed to be comparable to venice no way it was heaving and to us seemed to be just one huge eating place every lovely little street full of cafes and bars and restaurants with thousands eating.the island of korcula is very lovely a long trip over 2 hours by comfortable mini bus then ferry ride but well worth a visit.we had a great time this hotel is a lovely base to explore from the staff are great, the sea swimming is really good a little chilly but clear blue water great for snorkling.the most negative comment is you will need deep pockets & plenty of cash we found croatia the most expensive place we have been to.
