On our first Dubrovnik day it was raining with varying intensity. After a couple of hours hitting the high spots and dodging rain drops we were headed out of town. About mid way between the Palace of the Rector and the big fountain the Café Festival had opened all their awnings to provide as many dry tables as possible. We slipped into perfect people watching position and waited for the rain to let up. After watching several great looking plates of food getting served up we ordered wine and a lasagna dinner. Absolutely delicious. They brought us a couple plates of bread slices with a spectacular olive oil dip and then the dinner was served after about a half hour. We weren’t in a rush and were just starting to get hungry so it was excellent timing. A carafe of red wine was about $7.US, a bottle of mineral water was about $3.50, the lasagna was $15 and change. Total about $26US. We thought it was quite reasonable for a good meal and a top location on the main drag right in the heart of the tourist center.
