“Antigua interesting day trip.”
Reviewed 27 February 2011

The town has some early Spanish history dating from the 1520's. They have several large Catholic cathedrals. Some were damaged by earthquakes. The town has quaint old buildings and cobble streets. One day should be enough time to explore the place.

“Charming city”
Reviewed 14 February 2011

Antigua is a charming city ,45 minutes away from Guatemala City airport.Cabble stone streets, less or more unchanged buildings from colonial times.Stuning views over surrounding volcanos.Short distance to main attractions and international airport is a great bonus for town. You can make Antigua a base for your trips.
On any corner you can find travel agences and small stores
Great and cheap restaurants and hotels make Antigua reachable for tourists.Nice and helpfull people around. In one ,small town you got everything what you need.

“Lovely town, and interesting drive to get there”
Reviewed 27 October 2010

On a recent cruise, we took a day trip to Antigua. It is a beautiful old town with many interesting building and lots of architectural features. It is well worth spending a day there, with lots to see. Many of the churches are very pretty and well preserved. The drive there was also very scenic, going through hills and past volcanoes - we were lucky enough to see a volcano erupt with a plume of ash and smoke as we went by! Antigua is overlooked by a volcano which looks spectacular in the postcards but was covered in cloud during our visit (in the rainy season). Also had the best cup of coffee I have ever had - converted us to drinking Guatemalan coffee!

“Antigua is a photographers dream!”
Reviewed 21 October 2010

Can't begin to explain how amazing my trip was to Antigua, Guatemala. I don't think enough US travelers know that there is this amazing city only a few hours from them. From Atlanta, it's only a 3 hour flight!

What makes the town amazing is the combination of a few amazing things:

1. People- all of the people are so endearing, hardworking, and truly care about you having an enjoyable experience in their city.

2. The architecture- A business must maintain an exterior look specific to what looks like a "old spanish" architecture.

3. The cuisine- i am convinced that it is impossible to have a bad meal in Antigua. You must try Cafe Barista for breakfast! And there is a French Bistro called Cinq that is a must as well.

4. The weather- They don't call Guatemala "Land of Eternal Spring" for nothing. Even if it does rain, it just makes it all the more romantic.

“Golden Hair Design:English Speaking Hairdresser in Guatemala”
Reviewed 7 October 2010

I had a great experience at Golden Hair Design in Antigua.
I have blonde hair and its always a challenge to have it coloured in central america as many local hairdressers dont usually deal with lighter/thin hair. I am also learning spanish so its sometimes tricky to say exactly what im after. So if you are looking for an english speaking hairdresser (at a very reasonable price) see Melissa (owner). Its on 6a Av Norte #29, ph.49370244.
