This was the second operating mill we visited while on the Cape. The first was the Grist Mill in Sandwich. This mill operates in much the same way with the hoppers, grinding wheels and gears. The old mill is picturesque. We rode our bikes up to this point just to visit. It was definitely worth it. Beautiful stop with a great history.

We went to the whaling museum and the admission also got us a tour here. Our tour guide was so informative and explained how the mill worked. He got the young kids involved by pulling ropes and he was very interactive. The day we were there, the mill wasn't working. But it was still very cool.

We drove by the Old Mill several times on our stay in Nantucket and it is incredible to know that it still operates. The mill is very well preserved and maintained. It is situated on a road nearby the center of town.

This was an interesting site for an historic tour. It's the oldest and the only one left, so it's worth a visit. They will even show you how it operates.

Just a short bike ride or medium walk will take you to this beautiful windmill on the hill! I took a bicycle and enjoyed the nice fresh air. Because it was early season, the wind props were not installed. But that did not takeaway from it's basic beauty or charm. This a must visit spot!
This is a medium type walk which should be ok for most
or a short Bike ride. A must see!
