“Wow”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 February 2012

I was totally impressed by my brief but extremely enjoyable stay at the Amherst in December. The rooms are gorgeous and comfortable, complete with beautiful, tasteful period decor. None of the usual corny B and B stuff here; this inn is quite impressive! Breakfast is a veritable feast. Ann King, the proprietor/owner is a gracious and caring host. Lots of nice, small touches, for instance I enjoyed the book of Emily Dickenson's poetry left on the night table next to the big, very comfortable bed. I look forward to my next visit. It's an amazing value, too.

Room Tip: Personally, I'd like to try them all. Each one is slightly different, all are very, very lovely.

The owner was so sweet and accommodating to me and my boyfriend (who had to reschedule our reservation at the last minute). The inn is a very well preserved historic house (kind of feels like you're in a Jane Austen novel) with modern conveniences like free wifi and electric space heaters in the rooms, which are spacious and the beds super comfortable. The breakfast was delicious: fresh baked coffee cake, biscotti, fruit, cereals, yogurt, and (this morning) a choice of challa bread French toast or eggs with sausage or ham, prepared by the owner. Great location, you can walk to all the restaurants and attractions in downtown Amherst or catch a bus to nearby Northampton! We will definitely stay here again!

My husband I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Amherst Inn over the Christmas holiday. The historic nature of the Inn, fine service and interesting clientele appealed to us both. The room was spacious, warm and comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic- not only the fresh fruit cup and fine coffee but wonderfully baked items from the kitchen- ask for the omelet! The Swedish holiday decorations gave the breakfast room a special charm. Sharing the table with such a variety of interesting people made every morning special.

Room Tip: they all looked great- each individual to tastes

Gorgeous rooms, decor, colors, wallpaper, lamps, furniture, just lovely! Beds comfortable. Right across the street from Emily Dickinson house. And down the street from a great hot tub spa. Nice hiking in the area. Free parking. We stayed in the turret room which was a bit noisy from street noise but the loveliness made up for that. Small shower but we went to the spa so didn't even use it. Highly recommended although breakfast was sitting a bit too long to make it top notch. One plus, when we arrived the smell of the house was full of freshly baking cookies...which we were given a couple...yum. I'd go back.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the street do get car noise.

We came for the night and this inn surpassed our expectations. Warm and inviting, we felt immediately comfortable and pleased with our choice. Ann, our innkeeper, was kind and accommodating and happy to help us find a restaurant or something fun to do in town, which was only about a five minute walk away. Our room was beautiful and the bed was cozy and comfortable. Breakfast was relaxing and had something for everyone. I am vegan and my partner gluten free and we had no problem eating. We will be back!
