If busy means good, the this place is great! Very popular, reasonable prices, friendly service, and great margaritas. Worth the wait!

Mexican Cafe has been an institution in Annapolis for years. It has good Mexican food at a reasonable price.

My absolute favorite is the avocado salad with shrimp. Last night my friends ordered it on my recommendation and the male friend didn't even finish the huge serving.

In nice weather you can dine al fresco on the nice patio with picnic tables.

They also have a good happy hour and are somewhat known for the margaritas.

Great place for families, friends, date - everything but formal occasions.

We pass by this restaurant often while visiting Great Harvest Bread Company and finally decided to stop in. I purchased a Groupon for $11 for a $20 meal while in the parking lot. An overwhelming smell of mildew hits your nose when you walk in the door. The server was knowledgeable and friendly and brought us chips and salsa while we looked at the menu. I had the vegetarian fajitas and my husband had the chicken fajitas, along with 2 iced teas. The tea was fantastic. The food was OK. Tasty but nothing overly impressive. My vegetarian fajitas had green pepper, large pieces of zucchini and onion. It would have been nice to have had some other veggies to boost the color and the taste. The servings were large and we ended up having enough to take home for our dinner.

Waited a few days for our stomachs to settle before posting. Should have heeded the poor reviews this place gets, and shouldn't have stayed (esp. upon noting a lollipop bowl in the foyer). After being ignored for 45 minutes standing freezing (a two-seat bench in the doorway is the waiting area), we were placed at a dark, tiny, sticky table in the shabby, dirty dining room. The waitress was nice, but all the food she brought was frankly awful--from the flavorless salsa, cardboard chips, to the carelessly-plated unauthentic bad-tasting fare that we only picked at. The place has been known for its margaritas, but the ones at the adjoining tables looked uninspired and abandoned. This eatery has been in business for about 13 years but it seems to be on a rapid decline. There are a dozen wonderful Mexican restaurants in the Annapolis downtown area--we certainly never will return here again!

Went to this Cafe for lunch with my wife. The menu looked good with various options, however, I was disappointed with the "Mini Chimichangas". Sounded good with four small chimichangas each with various meats but they were dry and lacked any flavor. Basically the meat wrapped in the tortilla and not much else. My wife's Chicken Quesedilla was better but that's not something you can't get in 100 places. Not impressed.
