have always wanted to go to a true crab shack and I feel like I can cross that one off my bucket list after going to cantler's. I love all the Old Bay. The servers were great.. helping us figure out what to do with these big bugs and how to mix the vinegar, old bay and butter. We had a great time. But why no huge mugs of draught beer to wash all that spicy crab down? Just cans... hmm.
Also, be warned if you go outside to the crab holding area, you might see them cut off the face of a soft shell while it's still alive and wriggling. ack.
oh and it's a surprisingly expernsive experience. about 55 to 75 bucks per dozen of crabs depending on size. i got half a dozen and was more than content with that.

If crabs are your thing, this place is worth the trip. They have every version of crab you prefer, and each is delicious.

I had the shrimp stuffed crab, which was delicious, while my counterpart had the crabs. Whole crabs were brought out with mallets and tools to get the meat out. So delicious and fresh. Well worth the visit.

Sitting outside, while the view was great, you have the wind and extra people to deal with. To each their own. If you prefer the view, outside is a go, if not, stay inside, and not worry about any bugs or wind (though you'll more than likely share a table).

We took our friends visiting us from Manhattan for a tour in Annapolis. We consulted the test crabs in the area and Cantler's showed up. Just 15 minutes from downtown Annapolis, we had a wonderful experience. Great meaty crabs, we ordered a dozen large crabs, plus another seafood dish as well. Quality crabs and great menu of other seafood dishes and very reasonable prices. And yes, the view of the river was in keeping with eating crabs. A must for locals as well as visitors.

We had the all you can eat crabs special. Delicious! Well seasoned and were delivered hot. This was my second visit. First visit was during dinner there was a two hour wait; line to get into the parking lot. Then another fourtyfive minutes to be seated this was a Saturday. The food made up for the wait. Another patiron told us to try early luch and it was perfect timing. PS. We ate on the deck with the fans blowing it wasn’t that bad in the heat enjoy

Steamed crabs on parchment paper on the table. Bring your appetite for crabs. The crab-cakes are also amazing. We like the setting as well when seating outside. Service was attentive during our visit. You can get a short “tutorial” on crab eating.
