Since moving to the area a number of years ago I have been to almost every Chinese restaurant in and around Annapolis. The canton is my go to spot. This place has great tasting food at an excellent value. Great taste, great portions all at a great price. What else can you ask for?

I've been going here for my entire life and the food has always been great with a reasonable price. The service is sometimes a bit questionable, but not enough to detract away from the meal. Well worth it.

so in the mood for Chinese. We were hungry, decided to get two appetizers and share. Steamed dumplings and fried pork wan tons. Both were just really bad. Fried won tons were plenty fried won ton, very little pork. Steamed dumplings were a major disappointment. Dumpling wrapper very thick and the bottom was very browned. Husband said left in the steamer too long. Entrees, we are ready. Orange Beef and General Tso's chicken. Sortof OK. Very thick and syrupy -- seemed like the same sauce on both dishes, and don't believe I've ever had something like that with the General Tso's. Maybe ate half of both dishes. We were bought take home boxes and went ahead with that, but sorry to say we tossed them when we got home. But, the service was very good.... they did seem to be doing a very active carry out business.

We have lived nearby 20+ years and cannot find better chinese food. We order carryout about twice a month . Also, we eat in the restaurant when we want a relaxing atmosphere (pleasant music) and attentive service but not rushing you to have the table for the next customer. Hot tea and almond cookies are a delicious compliment to entrees. Here are our favorites : spicy but not too much (Hunan chicken w/rice, Satchewan greenbeans and Kung po chicken w/ rice ) ; not spicy- (Shrimp fried rice or Lo mein, Chicken Chow Mein or Beef Pepper Steak w/tomato). We choose Soup (Wanton or Egg Drop ) often and love the "hands down" best Egg Rolls or Spare Ribs for appetizers you could ever find. Trust me. Truly excellent !

We went to Canton for lunch, arriving around 1:30, and were one of only three groups eating there. The hostess gave us excellent advice, some of which we were later sorry we ignored. The first piece of advice was not to get the lemon duck (too dry). Instead, she made us a special duck dish that was NOT too dry, and was actually very good. The second piece of advice was that we were ordering too much with two spring rolls and two appetizers for two people. Being really hungry, we ignored it, and ended up taking most of two entrees home in a doggy bag, complimentary chopsticks and utensils and napkins. The only employee we saw was our hostess/waitress and she was wonderful. The food was good. Nothing fancy, but really nice.
The restaurant and bathrooms were clean. Atmosphere typical chinese restaurant. Nice bonus at the end: home-made almond cookies as well as fortune cookies.
We will be back.
