Stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel in Panama City for six days. I have a fairly good feel for hotels in Latin America and I would say this ranks pretty high for luxury and I felt the rate was really reasonable. Hotel is right on the ocean in the downtown area with great views of the city skyline and ocean. The hotel itself is clean and appears to be well maintained and has marble and other aesthetics that make it visually appealing. Pool area is beautiful although you do get some sound from the cars on the street out front. My room was clean and quiet on the 15th floor. Fairly spacious with a walk in shower. The real strength of this property however in my opinion is not visual appearance but in a highly trained and efficient staff. The bartenders in the lounge quickly learned what I was drinking and the moment I walked in recognized me and knew my drink of choice. The waiters in the restaurant were efficient and courteous. However when I experienced extremely poor treatment from Gamboa Tours who are actually based at this hotel. The Concierge Erika Mora quickly and efficiently booked an with an alternate tour company to see the Panama Canal. I was impressed. More
