The imposing stainless steel Rodina Mat statue towering over the hillside is worth a photo itself.
There is a great array of soviet era tanks, armoured vehicles, planes, even a ballistic missile on display outside. A few you can sit in for a tiny charge of 3UAH when I was there in late 2017 for the Mig24 and the Hind gunship.
Inside is a history exhibition and very informative. helpful staff too if you can grab one.
Would go there again.

Monuments usually don't intrigue me that much, but this is a site to see, especially for those of us who grew up in the Cold War era. The surrounding area is interesting, especially the war museum at the statue's base, the other nearby Soviet statues and the displays of military equipment from the recent conflict with Russia. You can make this part of your trip to the Lavra monastery complex as it is nearby.
