Owner description: The world's second largest building was built as a palace for Nicolae Ceauşescu, who was overthrown and executed before it was completed.

As this is the second largest administrative building in the world, we were awed not only by its size, but its opulence. It's history is amazing and beyond words.

Definitely one to put on the list of things to see when in Bucharest. The building is crazy big which can be seen from the outside but only really appreciated once you go inside with a tour. The tours are fairly inexpensive and English ones last just over an hour and go pretty frequently. Fascinating to see and great to hear lots about the history of the building and Bucharest itself.

You do have to pay to take photos or video with a real camera, but it’s free just on your phone.

After the rude ladies at the paymeny desk and the security check to rival any airport...once the tour started it was surprisinly informative and at some times enjoyable. There isnt much to see but our tour guide had a lot of " back story" to keep it interesting. Not for young kids they got bored.

in footprint, (Only Pentagon is bigger) and it's as large underground as over, take a guided tour and you will learn about the folly of mankind, I recommend this to understand where the Romanians are coming from.
