Genuinely nothing to fault with this hotel. The staff were friendly, warm and welcoming with any queries or questions dealt with efficiently.

We had a good sized room with a bed big enough for three. Dressing gowns and a selection of toiletries were provided. Breakfast comprised of a good selection of food.

The location of this hotel was fine. A 20 minute taxi ride from the airport with views overlooking Revolution Square.

Stayed here while on a weekend visit to Bucharest and had a very pleasant stay. The hotel is truly palatial, well-appointed and in a central location. What really stood out for us was just how friendly and keen to help all the staff we encountered were. We stayed on the exec floor and used the exec lounge - which had snacks and drinks well-stocked throughout the day. In fact, you can get away with the light dinner provided here every evening - which surprised us in its variety.

Needless to say, we would stay here again. The hotel should be proud of just how helpful its staff members are.

First impressions: It was our first time visiting Romania, and we did not know what to expect, loving history, and after doing a lot of research, we decided to go with Hilton Bucharest. Hilton Bucharest is a charmed hotel, I would compare this hotel to Hilton Budapest, and this means that you will love it. If it’s your first time visiting Romania, you might feel that people have a cold attitude but do not worry it’s just an impression. Romanian people are extremely nice, polite and friendly.

Location: The hotel is located, Close to the old town, and many landmarks, the area has full of restaurant and café nearby, they even have a small Casino on site, but I would suggest to cross the street if you like Casino and use the Platinum casino, The hotel has a very good restaurant extremely well located with a relaxing outside terrace. See my review on ‘’Roberto's on La Strada’’.

Check-in/ check out:

Room & Room Service: Even if the Hotel is old, the room was very spacious and clean, I mean spotless, the room service and cleaning lady are very efficient, because our room was located on the high floor we ask to have a few chairs and tables on the small balcony to be able to sit, relax and enjoy the view from our room, service was faster than expected even if we are not the kind of people who like to have everything we request within the next 5 minutes.

Executive lounge: Our first impression of the executive lounge was not so great, we arrived early morning after breakfast, there was only coffee available and we were tired, after looking around we were able to access the service and everything the executive lounge had to offer, first of all, the lounge is located on the high floor with an amazing view, they have a small balcony with chairs and table where you can enjoy having your coffee outside. During the afternoon, the offer a very good variety of meal, drinks and salad, to choose from, sometimes it was enough for a dinner. The quality, and service are impeccable, something you would expect at Hilton, the kind of quality you always found in Eastern Europe. If you need something, just ask the staff will be very happy to do their best. A tip regarding the executive lounge, because breakfast was included and has to be taken in the lounge, I would recommend to ask the front desk to have either the choice to have your breakfast at the restaurant surrounded by flowers and trees a magical garden in the middle of the city as I used to call it.

Diner: Once again, we were impressed by the different dinner options, during our stay they had something special called ‘’diner in the sky’’ means dinning in the sky, inside a transparent glass with live musicians, it must have been a nice experience which we had to pass for personal reason.

Pool and Spa: the fitness centre was being renovated, but indoor pool and spa were accessible, I was very impressed by the size of the pool, we also use the hot tub which is located beside the pool. The ambiance is very relaxing and once again the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Concierge and Taxi; If you need to go anywhere in town, use the concierge service, once we thought we had made a deal, the price was cheaper than other European cities but the concierge could’ve us a taxi half cheaper.

To conclude, if you travel to Bucharest and wants a good experience, do not look any further, Hilton Bucharest is the place, I say that because we did pay a visit to other luxury hotels in Bucharest, and Hilton Bucharest was our best bet and we are glad we did, It was our first time visiting Romania, and we did not know what to expect, so as we do on every trip, we like to spend a few days in a new country and if we like it we will come back later to explore. This is exactly what will happen with Romania and I can tell you that we will be back for further exploration of your beautiful country using once again your beautiful hotel. For those who complain about this hotel just ask yourself you might be someone never satisfied because there is nothing bad to say about this hotel.

Please make our salutation to these exceptional employees that make our stay even more exceptional by their outstanding service:
Oana, Andrei and Antonio at the front desk/ Miki, Laura, Mandalina and Florin Brinzei at breakfast restaurant/ Valentin at the lounge/
Thank you very much/ Moulsoumecs

Room Tip: Executive room with balcony if you can afford it are awesome

We stayed here in December for our annual Christmas market city break
We like trying a different place each year
Sometimes we fall in love with places and return
First time in Bucharest
No chance we’ll be returning
Hotel reception and staff were lovely
Building very grand
Room was spacious and kept very clean
Far too hot though
We were unable to adjust temperature
This was controlled centrally
It was like an oven in our room
In order to have our window opened a little, we were made to sign a disclaimer
Ridiculous as it was only opened a fraction and no way could anyone have got in or fallen out
We were 6 floors up
Bland decor
Hard bed
Really small towels in bathroom - unusual these days in a 5 star hotel
Worse 5 star breakfasts we have ever experienced in any 5 star hotel
More like quality/presentation you’d get from a 3 star hotel
You could take breakfast in the a la Carter restaurant, but this was a real rip off
You just had a choice of coffee or orange juice - couldn’t have both
Plus just allowed a couple of items from the menu
Never experienced this type of restriction in a 4 or 5 star anywhere in the world before
The jacuzzi was out of order when we first arrived - this was the deciding factor in choice of hotel the fact it offered a jacuzzi
So very disappointed
The location was not good either - not as central as we’d been led to believe
We ate in the Hotels English Bar one evening purely for convenience
Some of the food was frozen which was explained on the menu - but again not what we have come to expect from 5 star hotels
The staff were friendly and kind, but the food let the place down
Not somewhere we could recommend

Stayed: December 2017

Dear pragueophile,

Thank you for choosing Athénée Palace Hilton for your stay in Bucharest and for taking the time to share your feedback with the TripAdvisor community.
After reading carefully your review, I could notice that we haven’t managed to offer you a memorable stay and your expectations were neither met nor exceeded. I apologize for not delivering the high standard you rightly come to expect when staying at a Hilton hotel.

I am sorry that the restriction regarding the windows opening created any inconvenience during your stay. With our guest’s safety at heart in accordance with local regulations, all windows in our guest rooms are operated by our hotel staff only and can be opened upon request. I am very sorry if this information was not passed on to you and I will ensure to address your feedback with our Front Office team.

Regarding your breakfast and dinner experience, I am sorry to hear you were disappointed with the food options we served in our outlets. We normally get very good comments about our breakfast and food outlets, so it comes as a surprise to me. Please accept my apologies and rest assured your feedback has been forwarded to our Restaurant Manager in order to analyze these situations and take the necessary measures in order to avoid this situation from happening again.

On another note, I appreciate your comments about our staff. We are proud to say that we do have hard working and motivated Team Members who are willing to go the extra mile in order to exceed our customer’s expectation.

Once again, please accept my sincerest apologies for any inconvenience you encountered during your stay and I do hope that we will have the opportunity of welcoming you back at Athénée Palace Hilton and prove the right quality standards that we are recognized for. Please feel free to email me directly whenever you plan your next trip to Bucharest and I will make sure we will make it right to you.
