We've stayed here on numerous occasions. Excellent central location, with a Metro station right outside the door and a short walk to the main bus and train station. Very convenient for an overnight stay on arrival or departure. It's also an easy walk to the City Centre. The included breakfasts are excellent, though choice is limited. We found the staff very helpful. Yes, it's on a very busy boulevard and there have been road works but normally this didn't disturb our sleep even in a room facing the street, despite us both being very sensitive to noise. The major road building works should be completed now, but last time we stayed, we were in a room facing away from the main road and didn't hear a thing. The only reason I downgraded it to 4* was that a couple of times the room stank of cigarette smoke when we arrived, despite being supposedly non-smoking. Despite this, if we needed to stay in a hotel in Sofia again, we would gladly book a room at the Lion. The wifi is free and fast, beds are clean and comfortable, and it's very well located.

Room tip: If the road work is still going on, ask for a room at the back, it will be quieter.

We stayed with my wife there for a night. The front desk agent was very nice and helpful.
The hotel is exactly in the city center, the subway is a few minutes walk.
The room was clean and had everything you might need for a short stay. Great city view from the top floor. There was a big construction work of the Lion bridge during our stay, it wasn't as noisy as I would expect.
I'd recommend this hotel for a layover or a quick few days in the city, definitely not for a family vacation :)

Hotel is very close to city centre, reception miss informing customers, about cleaning they do cleaning room every day, but carpets are dirty in the room.
if you are going with family and kids, this is not for you, there're some alcoholic long-term resident there.

Room tip: If you are booking this hotel try to make payment on the website, otherwise they will charging you on very high rate.

I have spent four days in this hotel. It is located in the city centre but currently there are massive building works around it so it is not easy to reach it (especially if you are using your own transportation like I did). The rooms are spacious and clean and the staff is nice and very helpful. The breakfast is served in the adjacent Papaya restaurant (its pretty basic but ok). WiFi is excellent. There is no safe deposit box in the room. The surrounding of the hotel is a bit dodgy with gipsies and strange people but I did not have any problems even when I was walking in the night.

this hotel has 4 levels with a lift, the rooms are spacious and clean, reception employees speak English and are ready to help.Breakfast is served in the cafe next to the hotel but the choice is too limited for a three star hotel.the location is about 10 mn walk to the center but it gets a bit unattractive at night. overall, it was a good experience.

Room tip: ask for a room facing the back of the hotel, not the best view but so calm......
