We stayed here for one night on end of our trip (we spent three nights on Moorea) to enable us to have enough time to catch our flights. The service we received both times was absolutely amazing. My younger sister lost her brand new iphone in the taxi that had picked us up from the airport (not the hotel shuttle as we didn't realise they had one) I told her for sure it was gone as we didn't get the licence plate, drivers name or company so how would we find it. Our mum took her down to reception and they phoned their taxi driver who personally went and asked every taxi driver at the airport if anyone had dropped a large family off to this hotel and found a phone in the back. Sure enough he found it and she had her phone back within the hour. Also there is absolutely nothing to do between about 2-5pm as the whole city shuts down. The swimming pool was closed and my nephew was distraught about not being able to go swimming after we told him we were going to go to the pool and got him all excited (definitely our own fault). As everything else was closed we tried the spa but it was booked out. We then got a call back from the spa who i think felt bad as he had burst into tears saying we could come down at 5 and it would be available. They did not have to do that as him getting upset was our own fault but it was such a lovely gesture.

This hotel is in a fantastic location, directly across the street from the cruise ship pier. It is within walking distance from all of the shops and restaurants downtown, as well as the market. Rooms are very nice and modern. Food in the restaurant is wonderful.
One downside is WiFi is only available in the lobby. The pool was under construction when I was there, which was a bummer.

My husband and I recently stayed at Hotel Tahiti Nui for just one night in transit between Papatee and Moorea. We arrived late and night and the check in staff were friendly and efficient. Our suite was very nice - modern, clean and very large. The room would have been great for longer stays. However, upon signing our bill for the continental breakfast buffet, we were shocked to pay 2,800 cfp each ($35 NZD) for some basic cereals and dry pastries. I would recommend going for a walk to a local cafe or the supermarket 5 minutes walk down the road for your own breakfast supplies - especially given the large kitchen facilities in the suite. I did find the common areas and restaurants very dark, but this did not impact my stay in any way.

The drive from Papatee airport was probably 15 minutes or so, and another 15 minutes or so to the ferry terminal.

I would probably stay here again, but would skip the continental breakfast for sure.

Our room was large, with a balcony overlooking the pool. Relatively quite considering the hotel is located on a major avenue only a few blocks from the Cruise Ship and Ferry Terminals. The A/C struggled to keep the room cool, but it was adequate, and the bathroom "shaver" 110/220 outlet is disconnected for safety reasons. However, the unexpected find was the La Velvet French restaurant, open for lunch and dinner. The food was outstanding and reasonably priced.

Room tip: Rooms at the back are quieter

Although some people dislike the dim atmosphere of the Hotel Tahiti Nui, we find it very comforting. After all, Tahiti is in the tropics where the atmosphere is very hot and humid, the traffic is very heavy and noisy, and returning to the cool, dim atmosphere of the hotel is actually a nice respite.

Our rooms were very comfortable, although sort of Spartan. They included coffee, shampoo and a very nice body gel. For travelers who are used to using wash clothes when you bathe, these are not found in French Polynesia, so if you want one, bring your own.

The TV has one English-speaking station which is the International CNN.

We like the fact that the hotel feels very secure, as it is necessary to swipe your room card in order to make the elevator move up, although it is not necessary to move down. The card is also inserted into a slot inside the entry in order to activate the lights, which saves electricity.

The hot water in the shower was almost instant and very nice, and the room included a well-stocked wet bar with prices that were comparable to outside.

Our friends always stay in the larger suites that include kitchenettes, but we did not need them.

All in all, both of the rooms we used were clean and comfortable and close to town.

The hotel does provide Wi-Fi, but it is only available in the lobby and we were unable to access it. Still and all, it was nice to get away from it.
