Description: Only 5 minutes by taxi from the hustle and bustle of the cosmopolitan melting pot that is 21st century downtown Suva, is a place that offers a step back in time, to when the South Pacific was more than a destination for a little fun in the sun. Heritage Mall revisits the mystique of the South Seas that first drew explorers, adventures and traders to the exotic islands. The building which houses Heritage Mall itself is a testimony to the history of Fiji and the Pacific. Once the residence of Fijian High Chief and Pacific statesman, Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna, the restored colonial estate now houses Karalina's Fiji Boutique & Gift Store and Heritage Framing and Art shop. The crowning glory is Governors Museum Themed Restaurant. To enter Governors is to walk through the mists of time. As you cross the threshold, you cross from the post-modern, internet connected world of the 21st century to a time when even the most mundane of activities carried with them a sense of adventure and every experience had the potential to be history in the making. The walls are adorned with photographs and paraphernalia, each capturing the essence of the romantic South Seas. Every picture is post-card perfect, offering a snapshot of island life in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Given that the most common form of transport that era was the sailing ship, it is not surprising that Governor's carries a maritime motif. From a tribute to the old King's Wharf in Suva, to images of sailing ships and stylised private dining and meeting rooms - Captain's Table, Explorer's Room, Bosun's Quarters, and Norm's Bula Talei Bar - Governors easily transports the visitor to the "old world" charm of the South Pacific. In fact in 2014 The Sydney Morning Herald choose Governors as one of it's 50 Best travel finds from around the globe, winning Category 34...Best Old-World Charm !! Huge kudos for our little establishment considering other winners were as far flung as Sicily, Japan, NY, Dubai, Borabora and a host of other exotic destinations.. PLS NOTE: As of March 2016, we have introduced a new, highly experienced Australian Chef, Jason Allport whose passion is Asian Fusion and Seafood...Chef Jason will be introducing some excellent new local fusion/flavors to our menus as well as signature International cuisine. Dinners are now open 5 nights a week, Wednesdays to Sundays (inclusive) from 6pm to last order at 9pm. Cocktails and Happy Hour from 6 pm. Regular, quality live background music. Dress is smart casual/island. New cocktail / tapas bar and relaxed lounge area in a heritage Asian theme due to open in mid 2016. Planning a family reunion, birthday party, product launch, wedding, private meeting ?? We have the perfect venue and can cater for over 100 persons comfortably in our air conditioned dining rooms, garden balcony and private dining rooms. WHATEVER THE OCCASION.....CELEBRATE AT GOVERNORS

After a walk around Suva fish markets we attended Governors House for lunch.
The food was really nice and the service I could not fault.
Friendly people who could not do enough for us.

I would highly recommend popping in for a feed.

I’m a fussy eater and the menu suited us all.

Interesting decorated restaurant with good choice of local and international food. Good, sizable mains, very well presented.
Cakes were unfortunately disappointing. They called it cheesecake, but it tasted like made out of some cheap vegetable fat. I almost always finish my dessert, but not there.
