We spent an incredibly lazy week doing absolutely nothing. It was the perfect antidote to Melbourne's bitterly cold winter. This was my fourth visit to Hideaway, the first being in 1988. It was a small resort then but now has more than 100 villas. We had an excellent package deal that included all meals and beverages. The buffet breakfast started each day on a high note. The daily lunch and dinner choices varied each day. While certainly not 5 star catering, there was a fair range. The staff are simply delightful and very willing to make the holiday memorable. We needed the use of a wheelchair. A quick call to reception and a staff member would be at our villa almost immediately. On only one occasion did we have to ring again. The resort is very family friendly and provides a first class children's club. It is also ideal for retirees like us. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Room tip: Beachfront villas have lovely views. I prefer one a bit away from the main facilities because there's a disco each night from 10.

We returned to Hideaway after a few years & stayed in a beachfront villa. Like the way you can afford the best room category, without spending a fortune here. New buildings & facilities had been added since our last stay & the staff here are awesome.

Pros-
- We knew this wasnt a 4 star resort, but all the amenities were clean & tidy. The beachfront villas are roomy and of a very good standard. (Bures & villas are joined to one other though)
- We purchased an all inclusive package which included all meals, drinks - local beer, house wine & certain spirits. This took away any worry about prices as you could just relax and enjoy. Even if you arent a big drinker, all fizzy drinks & juice was included (but not water)
- We got a private transfer from the airport to Hideaway (negotiate with companies for a better price) & they stop at the supermarket for you to buy water etc as its cheaper than inside the resorts)
- Lots of activities & shows, aqua aerobis etc in house at Hideaway. This was one of the attractions as we were a mother & 19 yr old daughter this trip.
- This is a Fijian owned resort
- Our package also had $500 room credit on the spa & food. We had great massages & it paid for the 50% off not included meals & drinks

Cons -
- Be prepared that it can be extremely windy here. The wind drops in the early morning and evening, but can 'roar' in the middle part of the day, although this also keeps the heat down
- Cocktails are exorbitant prices $25-35 a drink!!!! Far more expensive than any other resorts we have been to.

Overall -
- We really enjoyed Hideaway again this trip. While not as upmarket as some resorts, they make up for it in the way they run things here. Staff are lovely & warm even though they work 6 days a week! Special thanks to Voli (& congrats on your new baby boy!) Zaniel for the awesome omelets, Joe in the bar,Taka in the spa & Kini for helping us with getting a lift to the Eco park when the bus didnt stop!
- We took along some clothing for the ladies after cyclone winston & decided we wanted staff to receive some as well, as they are so hard working & the they are what makes this resort- no doubt! I hope the resort owners appreciate this as staff can make or break peoples views on a resort. Vinaka Vaka Levu

Room tip: Choose a room away from restaurant area for the quiet aspect

Bula!

My family and I  - 4 adults, 4 children, and 1 baby - stayed at Hideaway for 10 days half board in July 2016. We had a great time and I'd  thoroughly recommend it.

We loved the pool, the 2 kids clubs (indoor and outdoor), tie dye t-shirts, coconuts fresh from a tree, kids movie night, etc. Our 2 frangipani bures were supplied with extra beds and a cot, and were well equipped e.g. safe, iron, kettle, indoors/outdoors showers. We did plenty of different activities around the resort and the days flew past.

The food we had was often of a high standard, the breakfast buffet was very good, the kids ate free, and by resort standards adult prices were OK.  However, it was not always clear what was available. We had to learn for ourselves that kids can eat free from the buffet *or* the kids menu, vegetarians can ask the head chef for something, and adults can get evening takeaways if necessary. These were all good things that perhaps could be covered in the welcome pack.

The staff are all *incredibly* friendly even by Fijian standards and are great with kids. Throughout our stay everyone was so helpful and it made for a great holiday. Hideaway was a great resort for our family and we have many happy memories. Vinaka!

Extras:
- A car/minibus airport transfer is ~150/200FJD and a 90 min drive
- A driver is easily arranged for local trips such as Kula Eco Park and The Flying Fin in Korotogo, or the Sigatoka market and Raj's Curry House
- Fishing trips, village tours, horse riding, tennis, PADI diving, and spa treatments are all available
- The beach is sandy and the lagoon is safe, but take aqua shoes to avoid treading on coral
- The onsite shop sells ice creams, arm bands, pool inflatables etc. at reasonable prices
- The bug count inside Hideaway was very low but bug spray is still wise especially off resort
- Everything is charged to your room and there is a 3% card fee, so pay as much of your final bill in cash as possible

DM me if you have any questions I'm happy to help
