We stayed at Intercontinental Fiji Resort for 5 night.

The resort is huge and it is located at an amazing beach. There is nothing else in the area, but you dont need anything. You can walk to the village close to the hotel. The standard of the hotel is really high. The hotel have different pools, where one of them is only for adults.

We got a room with our own pool. The room was huge and clean. The garden could have be nicer, but the terrace and pool was really nice. The wifi could have been better. The room was located in the Intercontinental club area, where you have a great view at the sea and the reef.

We had access to the club lounges. I have never experienced a service like this before. They are serving great breakfast in the morning, and good cocktails in the evening. The only negative thing I have to say in relation to the club lounge is that there were to many children.

We will be back here next year. It is one of the best resort, we have been at. I can easily recommend this resort - and book a room with access to the club lounges, it is worth the money.

Room Tip: book a room in the Intercontinental club section

Such a beautiful location and amazing staff. Luxury indeed. Only niggle was we had many occasions where extra drinks were added to our bill so we had to be very vigilant about checking the bill before signing it.

This hotel was absolutely amazing in so many ways! We were greeted at the airport by Joe and he told us about the history on our way to the hotel. Once we arrived they were playing the drums to welcome us. Our check in was very speedy and the bags were delivered to our room just as fast. The rooms were also just as amazing! Always clean, smelled wonderful and an endless supply of Fiji lotion! One day I asked one of the housekeepers if I could have more and during the next few days she put several bottles in the room daily. Our room was on the first level and walked out to the family pool. Never an issue with noise or people coming up to our room. The restaurants were always nice and food was always really good. One day we ordered Mahi Mahi and our server came to our table an brought a huge basket of fries and said they were out but that the chef was going to the market to get some more right now. Before too long we had fresh Mahi Mahi at our table! The pool was always clean and a nice temperature.
I really can't say enough about the staff at the hotel. They were ALL amazing! At no time did I ever encounter someone who didn't say "Bula" as I passed or wasn't above and beyond nice.
So if you're planning to go, here are some suggestions. Find Joe, seek him out! He's full of knowledge and can hook you up with any trip you want to do. We had expressed interest to going to the Kula Wild Eco Park and he took us on his own the next day. We had our own private van there and he walked with us thru the park. He's really really nice.
The Malomalo school tour is very worth it! Again, everyone is amazingly nice and so very welcoming. The kids showed us what they were studying for the day and are always interested in where we were from.
We also did a Sigatoka river jet boat and during the river boat ride you visit a village and meet the chief. Again, beyond welcoming! We drank Kava with the chief and the women made us an incredible lunch which included the men of the village singing and playing music for us. Then we all danced and laughed with the villagers before we left. An unforgettable trip indeed.
So here are a few things that aren't advertised but completely worth looking into.....neither one of these is affiliated in any way with the resort....just outside the resort property is Mary. There are several cabanas set up and hers is the first one. She does amazing massages with her, her mother and sister. The prices are very reasonable. She's pretty flexible too with the availability. She can also arrange to take you into town, horseback riding, bonfires and meals. On the other side of the resort you'll find King Solomen. We had met both of them while strolling along the beach. I'm typically not one to put too much into meeting folks on the beach and then arranging stuff with them. This time we did and so very worth it. On our first meeting, he offered to take us to the caves and to snorkle in the bay across the way. The next day we met up and he took us thru his village, we met his youngest daughter and his mother then we journeyed across the water to the caves where we learned more history of them and then onto the water to snorkle. Afterwards he walked us back across the water to our hotel. We had such an amazing time that we arranged to meet again later for a meal cooked by his family in the village.Again, amazing. He picked us up by the gate and we again walked to his village and we saw some of the kids we saw from Malomalo school which was cool. His family cooked us a ton of meat from in the ground and his wife made this amazing dish with coconut rice wrapped in a leaf I sadly cannot remember. We drank Kava with his family, met his mother, father, brother, wife and their 3 kids. One of the most amazing things they did for us was bring over the healer, Uncle Joe and he worked his healing on one of our friends who had fallen off a horse during our stay a few days prior. King Solomen and his family are truly amazing so worth meeting. Guaranteed friends for life!
I truly can't say enough about Fiji and the people there. It's like nothing I've ever experienced before. Very welcoming and just the nicest people. One thing that is amazing about Fiji itself is it's not a commercialized place. Sure the resort is fancy and there are pockets around that cater to higher end things, but really it's a laid back place without the frills of somewhere like Cabo for instance. The people want you to know about the history of Fiji and their traditions.
My BIGGEST piece of advice is to embrace Fiji time. NO WORRIES, NO HURRIES. Everything runs on Fiji time, nothing is rushed. Of caution though, the one thing that does not run on Fiji time is transportation.Your ride says they'll leave at 5, they will leave at 5.

We just got back from our amazing 5 night stay at the Fiji Intercon. Me and my partner make it a point to travel at least once a year to warm or tropical destinations but this is the first time I will write a detailed review.. Fiji Intercon blew us away on each and every aspect of our stay and the people who are looking into travelling to Fiji should know why this is the resort they should check themselves into!!

To start with, as travellers we never really considered sticking to one brand of hotel when we travel. This is the first time that we wanted to get into this loyalty programme thing and get serious about it. The Intercontinental brand is under the IHG group. If you sign up for free, you can earn points for every stay, and it also entitles you to free wifi. The free wifi in itself was enough to get me to sign up.. but apart from this perk, the Intercon made us feel that we were not just an ordinary guest. They looked after us and made us feel so special. And frankly after our stay in Fiji Intercon we are most likely not going to stay anywhere but the Intercon brand. They have set the bars really high!!

Pre-stay customer service: before even starting our trip, I emailed the Resort Manager Shaun Cawood to reiterate how special our trip was going to be for us since we were about to celebrate a relationship milestone and I wanted everything to be perfect. He responded to me very promptly and guaranteed that they will do whatever they can to look after us during our stay. I have emailed the concierge for questions, eg. activities, food menus, golf, etc. and everyone concerned responded in a very timely manner. Even before arriving at the resort they are already showing an awesome customer service.

Transfers: Upon arriving at the Nadi Airport, we were received by the lovely staff of Rosie Holidays. This is the tour company that Fiji Intercon is partnered with who does the transfers. We were greeted with a very warm bula, a complementary bottled water, towel and a shell lei. It wasn't hard finding them as they are waiting just outside the arrivals hall. They also have a booth on the right side. We had the shared transfers and there were only 3 of us so the SUV wasn't full at all. It was Kaveni (I hope I got his name right) who drove us to the resort. He was a good guy and shared a lot of interesting things about Fiji on our way.

Checkin: upon arriving at the resort we were greeted by the lovely staff even with smiles and a song! It was warm and amazing. The check in process was also a breeze. I feel so bad I didn't get the name of the lady who checked us in :( she was really nice and talking to her you'd instantly know that they will look after you in a very personal level, not as if you are just another guest checking in. It was also an amazing gesture that we got upgraded to a Lagoon Front Suite!!

Suite: The suite was as expected for a 5 star resort. It was well maintained, roomy, clean.. the bedroom was separated from a lounge with sliding doors. It has 2 ACs and 2 TVs, one on the lounge and one in the room. There is an outdoor tub too! As soon as you get out.. that amazing lagoon is just right there!! The colours of the water are amazing. On low tide which is pretty much around 11 noon onwards the water is low enough to walk to the island just across! There is like a slight sandbar too. No need to go to a trip to see such effect.. and this is just right outside the suite.. so accessible!!

Activities: We stayed here for 6 days and at first we were a bit worried that we might get bored.. but guess what, given how mighty comfortable everything there was in the room, I literally could lie down on that outdoor daybed the entire stay!! We can chill there for hours listening to some music and having beer and not regret doing absolutely nothing!! Apart from comfortable lazing around, the non motorised sports are also complementary to use for an hour. This includes the use of snorkeling gear, kayak, paddleboard and surfboard. We used the kayak and snorkeling gear and both were a great experience!! I was also able to go to the Natadola Bay golf course. They hold complimentary golf clinics on some days so if you are into golf or wanting to learn this is the activity for you. We considered doing some tours outside the resort but we missed on doing them because to be honest with the amount of activities we can do in the resort we were pretty much sorted!! However, if we wanted to have a tour this is very accessible as well - Rosie Holidays tour desk is just beside the Sanasana restaurant where the buffet breakfast is at. Apart from the water activities and golf, upon check in they are handing out the weekly resort activities. It has the time and place of where the activities will be held.

Staff: there are a bunch of reviews with high praises for the staff and to be really honest there are no words to compliment them enough for the superior level of service their team has delivered during our stay. They made us feel as if we weren't just guests but friends and family.. everyone greets bula when we see them.. they ask us how our stay is going or if we need anything.. we've been left with a complementary champagne in our room on our first night to start our celebration.. we even got invited to have sunset cocktails with the management team where we were able to mingle with the resort managers and share our thoughts on how things can be improved in the resort! I didn't get her name but she was the Business Development manager and she shared that speaking as one of the staff, they really do have a good work and life balance. This definitely showed by how the staff were looking after each of the guests. We went there as a couple but can see from everywhere how good Fijians are with kids. No doubt that not only the parents are having a fab time but the kids too!! I wasn't able to get as much names as I could have but I hope this gets to the people we all encountered, Shaun Cawood, the concierge/reception staff, the front desk manager, the housekeeping staff (Avelina), Ravikash, the duty managers, the lady at the reef safari and the breakfast crew at Sanasana, you should all be proud of yourselves. How you guys do your work is unparalleled and you should know that your outstanding customer service is the reason why guests will keep on coming back to your resort. Other resort managers should go visit Fiji Intercon to learn how it is meant to be done!!

Again, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you very much, Fiji Intercontinental. We will be back. And to those who are planning to go to Fiji.. you are definitely crazy if you won't be staying here!!
