Just across from the airport, handy first stop for your Cocktails!! All day Happy hour- great friendly staff - we had a seafood platter which was just a tad below average but the Pizzas are delicious!

Kia Orana.
Thank you for your review. We are pleased to read you enjoyed your cocktails, pizzas and the service from our team. Our seafood platters comprise mainly 'raw' or 'seared' seafood dishes designed for local tastes. Most places on Rarotonga prepare cooked and deep fried platters - not us.
We hope you had a great time in the Cook Islands.

If you're thinking to stay here for the duration of your trip to Rarotonga, you may want to rethink your plan: 1. There is no beach at the property and no water access even, really. There is a pool, but it's right in the middle of the restaurant (weird), so that makes it extremely unlikely that you'll be comfortable swimming there. 2. Loud music and sometimes drunken people right outside your room late into the night. 3. Very basic rooms and some cockroach sightings.

However if you want a place to stay before your flight, this is a great choice, since you can literally walk to your boarding gate from the hotel's front door in under 5 minutes. Continental breakfast is included with each night's stay, but we did not have it, so I can't comment on it. However, there is an amazing place across the street, Le Rendez-Vous, which serves perfect breakfasts, delicious pastries (and also great dinners most night of the week).

In short, stay here before your flight – it's perfect for that.

Thank you for your review. The Islander Hotel is a value for money 3 star property on the waterfront directly opposite Rarotonga Airport. The pool in the middle of the restaurant is perfect for kids to swim while mum and dad sit at the table. The Hula Bar on the beach calms down from 11pm and closes at 11.30pm. Our rooms are clean and comfortable and moderately priced. Regular insecticide spraying will remove creepy crawlies - necessary in the Pacific Islands. Tropical breakfast is simple and offers island fruit, cereal, muffins, toast & spreads and tea coffee and orange juice. Our breakfast menu offers hot breakfast options that are hearty and tasty. We also offer 13 stunning holiday homes around Rarotonga for couples through to families of up to 10 people. Lots of options for every budget. Rarotonga is a mecca for great food and we encourage people to travel and dine around. Our 185 seat restaurant is very busy with locals and visitors coming together to eat, drink and be merry. We are so EXTREMELY disappointed with the transfers to get to the island night. We had a group of 8, and 6 of us had booked transfers to and from the hotel. We arrived at our designated pick up point on time and after waiting 20mins called to see where our transfers were. We were promptly and rudely told "he is on his way" and then we were hung up on. Another 20 minutes later and another phone call told us the driver couldn't find us at the time so he left. Not one single driver slowed down while we waited and watched. One couple who got there on their own had to do island night without the group while the rest of us had to quickly make new plans for dinner. Not to mention we had NO APOLOGY or offer to rectify the situation. We had an extremely disappointing experience! Would not recommend using their transfers, although the couple who went said the show was good...we wouldn't know!

Thank you for your review.
Our driver was unable to find your group as he was unfamiliar with the pick up location: Paradise Holiday Homes. The mini van commenced transfers from Moana Sands Hotel from 6pm and made its way back to Avarua in the clockwise direction. Your table of 8 only had 2 diners. We apologise for the missed transfer. As a result of your issue, we will now ask all diners who have booked transfers to wait at an 'iconic' long standing location around the island, as new holiday homes pop up left right and centre without proper roadside signage.

Our room was clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly. Nice view of the ocean.
Drinks at the bar were reasonably priced. It does not have a good swimming beach, so if one plans to stay more than a couple days to enjoy water sports, this would not be the place. We did not get to try the restaurant because they were having a private charity event, so I cannot comment on the dinner menu. The breakfast, which is included with the room was average.

Kia Orana,
Thank you for your review.
We are pleased to read you found your room clean and comfortable and the staff service was friendly. Our swimming beach is only 500m away from the hotel at Nikao Bay. The Islander Hotel is a great value for money 'base' for visitors to explore Rarotonga Island. All events scheduled at the hotel, including the Charity Event you mention, is open for guest enjoyment, at special ticket prices. The free tropical breakfast is basic and is very light in its offering. Our cooked breakfast menu (priced from NZD12.50 - NZD21.50) offers substantial items usually found in cafes of the world. We hope you enjoyed your Rarotonga holiday.

We stopped off here for lunch before our flight back to Sydney. There is an extensive menu and easy to get a seat. We asolutely adored the papaya prawn salad which had a delicious coconut sauce. Also ordered fish but it was ovvercooked. It is within walking distance to the airport so that makes it very handy.

Thank you for your review. We are pleased you enjoyed your prawn & pawpaw salad. Fish of the day is Tuna, which overcooks very easily - our chefs will be reminded to watch fish cook times to ensure optimum quality on plate to your table.
