Owner description: Huayna Picchu is located towards the north of the Inca city of Machu Picchu. To climb the mountain of Huayna Picchu, should reach the checkpoint and entrance to Huayna Picchu and the road begins a few meters from the Sacred Rock is followed, it is an area with very dense vegetation, this road is very steep and quite and includes sections of narrow stairs and steps made of granite stone placed irregularly, there are some that appear carved into the rock. The promotion lasts between 45-60 minutes depending on the physical state of the person.

“Do this for bragging rights”

After four weeks of traveling, this is my highlight as we were the old folks who made it and back. Take your time and enjoy the wonderful views. We took others' advice and signed up to start at 10 to obtain a clearer sky. Don't be put off by the young people who blow pass you. You might later see them clinging to the rock/cliff faces as their height fears kick in. You can pass them then ;)

“Most amazing thing I have ever seen!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 March 2012

This was the most beautful thing I have ever seen. The ancient architechture was amazing. The view of this breath taking! You can see snow capped mountains from the top. The door ways are so small!!! The people must have been much smaller then, and braver to build on the mountian! Wayapichu was quite a climb! It exhausted me. I was worth it to see the view! Bring water!!!!

“It's not required to be the Iron man to climb it! Go for it!It's worth it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 February 2012

The view, the view and the view!!!!It makes you wonder all about those Inca's lifestyle!!!!Ha!The King wasn't dumb at all when the empire was built!!!!It's quite deep going up, but take your time and wear good runners and light clothes, make sure to buy the tickets in advance and try to get the 1st turn as I was told it start raining around 11AM up there and you could be brought down half way thru. The experience is worth it

“Tough climb but an amazing view. Do it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 February 2012

It was a hard climb. Had to stop a lot to rest. But the views were amazing at every stop. It took us one hour 20 minutes to get to the top (in our 50's and average shape). Felt like an accomplishment when I reached the top. Then - what a view! AMAZING! So glad we did it.

“Tough at the end of a day!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 February 2012

We had hiked up to to the sanctuary from Aguas Caliente before sunrise, and then up to the Sun Gate, and then all around the site. So, this turned out to be tough for an afternoon hike. It is pretty steep, and if you go to the top, a little hairy coming down. Views are great though, and if you are in reasonable shape, this shouldn't be missed.
