We expected a bit more (probably too much) than what we got, given the price.

- Countrary to what is said on the web site, there is no laundry service there.
- The staff was composed by one helpfull and smilling person, the other forgot to smile.
- The food : ok (taste and price) for dinner (meat and trout), but drinks are expensive and sandwiches are both small and costly.

But the room was nice and the swimming pool was enjoyable.

Nice hotel, friendly staff. My room was clean and I had lot of space, with a big balcony. The hotel restaurant was very good. The location is not far from the main road, but most of the traffic noise is damped by vegetation and a brick wall. The dining area is very nice by the pool.

Room Tip: Do not forget to take a Pisco Sour before dinner!

Since there was a dearth of review on this place, I looked at the website and called the "resort" several times before booking. I tried several other resorts in the Lima area that I had experience with, but every place was booked solid for New Year's Eve, which is a popular holiday for the resorts in Peru. The ladies that I spoke with at the "resort" told me that they had a New Year's "package" that would give me two private "bungalows" with private baths, breakfast, dinner and a New Year's Eve party for my party of seven. For this "exclusivity" and "package" we paid $2270. They suspiciously would not take a credit card (later I learned that it is probably to avoid chargebacks) and insisted that I send the money via wire to ensure the reservation. However, when I got there, they proudly displayed the "VISA" sign on the front desk.

First of all, let's be clear. There are no bungalows. This is a HOTEL. Our "bungalow" (which was supposed to be the best they had) is merely a room above the office with a rock-hard bed. The second room in our "bungalow" was a tiny room by the entrance hall, also above the office, WITHOUT a private bath -- you have to walk across the hall --in full view of the public areas of the second floor of the hotel. As the other reviewer stated, the wireless internet is bad and only usable if you leave your room and go to the main floor-where it is weak, but you can sometimes obtain a signal.

On to breakfast the first morning. They brought out the "included" breakfast for my party of seven -- bread, papaya juice and coffee. That's it. However, after we complained, they agreed to bring us fired eggs and a lunchmeat-type of ham. Service in the dining hall (I don't call it a restaurant because the lobby, restaurant, etc are all in one place) was excruciatingly slow. Dinner wasn't much better. The activities they promised, were non-existent. There is a small pool and a swingset. That's it. There was a New Year's party with fireworks and a decent dinner, for sure, it was basically us and the owner's large family. Add I know who paid for it.

Don't stay here! Stay at "El Pueblo" down the road for truly exclusive private bungalows and real activities like karaoke, horseback riding, bingo, etc. This place was a painful ripoff that I really lament paying for!

I have stayed in REAL resorts far, far, better than this place for 20% of the price.

Room Tip: go elsewhere

There were a few problems at La Posada, but one shouldn't go to this town 30 km east of Lima with high expectations. The bed was the biggest disappointment — hard as a rock. And wireless Internet was less reliable than I had expected. It was the off-season so service during the week was a bit thin due to lack of staff, but the staff who were there were terrific. The girls at reception, in particular, were always friendly and helpful. The outdoor kitchen has several brick oven/barbecues where they produce some great meals. If you have reason to go to Chaclacayo, which I did, La Posada is a good choice. Just check the bed before you get settled in to your room!
