La Casa Morey is obviously a labor of love for its owners, who have renovated an older robber baron’s mansion into a beautiful hotel. Rooms are huge (probably the biggest room We have ever stayed in by at least a factor of 2 or 3!) with balconies and anterooms. Nice breakfast spread and decent a/c. Location faces the river and close to main square but nice and quiet.
They also provided a 50% off discount coupon for two museums(boat museum and Amazonian culture museum) both of which are within walking distance. The hotel library contains additional records about Amazonian history.
Great jumping off place for your Amazonian adventure!

We had a great time at Casa Moretti Hotel. Luckily they were kind enough to take us very last minute as we had a slight mixup with the hotel we already had booked for the night. A room was ready right away and they also called the tour company we had booked the next day to let them know we had switched hotels. The accommodations were great, the building is quite old with a lot of great history. There was a great breakfast included the next morning as well before we headed off into the Amazon. Highly recommend!

We recently stayed at Casa Morey for a night and really enjoyed our time there. It’s right on the water and the courtyard is very nice and quiet despite having a healthy amount of people. The hotel has kept its historic charm after being refurbished in 2010 and even has some of the original construction intact. The rooms are massive and air conditioned. The breakfast, which is included, is basic but does the job and kept us full until lunch. The service was good and the lady at the front desk did a good job directing us to various activities. Overall if you want an affordable hotel that is off the main drag by a block (trust me that’s a good thing) this is the place for you

Unique hotel with grand features. The river and plaza view from my extremely tall french doors was beautiful (upstairs, room 2 or 3). The room was enormous with 20+' high ceilings. Had both breakfast and dinner at the restaurant which was good, not great. Cons: swimming pool is more of a splash pool for looking pretty not swimming; windows in room do not open. Easy walk to main tourist, etc.

Room Tip: Only saw rooms 2 & 3. Recommend either.

We are fond of old, gracious hotels and Morey is both. Interesting back story with rubber barons, plus fun Amazon paddleboat right there to explore. Food was delicious and well served. I don’t get the thin towels and sheets complaints. For the reasonable price, elegance, and friendly service it sounds overly picky. They were fine. Spent a night after a jungle lodge. Taxi IS a bit of a negotiation- one concierge at check in confirmed free transport to airport was included (clearly noted on our reservation) A different clerk (a man this time) tried to get us to pay the next day. I told him that the matter was being discussed on Trip Advisor- did he want to be mentioned by name? End of us paying. But one shady guy cannot take away the fun. Warning: bring earplugs for street:Amazon facing rooms. The parties go on in the waterfront park until late.
