My husband and I spent a few days here on our honeymoon. The hotel is an excellent deal. We reserved one of the premium rooms and had great views over the city. The courtyards are lovely, with complimentary coca tea, flowers, and views. Bathrooms had hot water and rooms had comfy beds and peruvian-esque furnishing. Loved all the wood details throughout the hotel as well.

The concierge was extremely helpful before and during the trip. We organized some tours through the hotel (I believe it was a Cusco tour and the Sacred Valley tour- both excellent)and also had the hotel book our Machu Picchu tickets for us. Tours were reasonably priced and they did not up charge us for booking Machu Picchu tickets.

Great experience, and will be recommending to anyone I know who is traveling to Peru in the future.

After reading all the positive reviews I think we were just at the wrong place at the wrong time. After our first night in room 110 we realized we had a very noisy room. The room is right next to a staff cleaning storage and the staff are in and out of there often and make lots of noise. The staff work late and start very early which was very disruptive. The room also had many ants, which did not really matter until we found some in the bed. (At $65 US per night, that is unacceptable.) After the first night we asked to change rooms and were told the hotel was full for that night and we could not move. They did move us for our third night and gave us a complimentary upgrade.
Breakfast was also an issue. The first morning we had to wait 20 minutes because the small breakfast room was full (between 8 and 8:30am). When we did get a seat, there was practically nothing left; food, dishes, etc... my husband and I had to share the same tea cup. Our last morning we had a very early departure. When we arrived at the breakfast room at 5:30, the time that it opens, there was nothing ready. By the time they put things out, we had to leave (5:50). They seemed unorganized and under staffed.

Room Tip: Avoid room 110

Our group of 7 spent 4 nights at this hotel. It is perfectly situated, in the nice neighborhood of San Blas and just a five minutes walk to the Plaza de Armas. Most rooms overlook beautiful interior gardens which are nice places to relax, and the rear section of the hotel provides a very nice view of the city. The rooms are very comfortable and have good heating, which is a very nice thing to have as the nights can be quite cold in Cusco.

They kept our luggage in storage while we went on our trip to Machu Picchu. The staff was nice and breakfast was good.

We really enjoyed our stay at Amaru Inca Hostal and would definitely recommend this hotel.

A friend and I stayed here 3 nights while traveling in Peru. This hotel was in a great location to see the sights in Cusco. Hotel sits on hillside so what goes down has to go back up. Staff were both friendly and helpful and spoke English. They had a nice set up for breakfast every morning. The not stop coco tea was a help with the altitude. We found our room perfect for our needs, clean, quite and plenty of hot water. We would recommend this hotel for those not looking for top dollar hotel.
