Dear Robert, We are very grateful for your comment, it makes us very happy that your stay has been pleasant. We hope your visit soon.
Beautiful private garden that invited you to explore their courtyard. We had a private bed and bath off yet another small courtyard. Our wonderful rooms had a wall of glass to enjoy the view. Many times during our day you could hear then cheering at the local soccer match. What I like most was it was a great place to start and finish a motorcycle trip around Peru. We had a excellent meals and service while we were in town. Another nice fact was it was a short walk to city's court yard.
This is my second stay at La Gruta. this is the perfect place to launch a motorcycling tour of Peru. The bikes are all lined up outside the hotel, Lars conducts all the business at the hotel. The hotel is very clean and comfortable, the staff is very friendly and accommodating, breakfast is a little limited but that is pretty topical through out Peru.
You are just a short walk from the main square with plenty of restaurants to choose from.
This hotel is in a good location in regards to city. Clean tidy, very friendly staff. If you stay more than 3 nights the breakfast becomes boring, but you can ask for different cooked eggs. There are a lot of trip hazards as the floors in the hotel on all sorts of different levels.
Like many other reviewers I was here just prior to a bike tour. The hotel is in a compound so extra safe, it has decent sized rooms and is in a quiet location. The bathroom is a bit dated and the shower a bit average but was overall ok. Note there is no heating or cooling as people in Arequipa think its unnecessary, it wouldve been nice for a little heater though. The breakfast was a bit average, a bit more fresh fruit wouldve been great as opposed to the breads, ham and cheese. Coffee was quite good and they had milk as well. The garden area is great to sit outside in the sun and have a few drinks. The staff were friendly and could speak a little english, enough to get drinks or a late night sandwich. Special thankyou to this young chap who checked me in late into the night. He was a very nice young man, very friendly and only too happy to help. He even showed me where to smoke and got me a few beers and made me a sandwich after a long day of flying! That was very much appreciated! To get to town is like a 10minute walk, not far at all and quite a safe area.
Stayed here before and after motorcycle trip organized by Peru Motors. Rooms are clean. Staff pleasant, good english, and helpful. Lovely backyard. Breakfast simple but good and fresh. Safe location with fully fenced and guided property. Place to park.
