After a long drive from Guayaquil to Cuenca, pushing the severely underpowered hire cars to the limit, reached the Hosteria Duran. Per the recommendations, headed to the hot pool. What a great way to relax after the long hours on the road. Hotel was very quaint, and the staff were fantastic.

Room Tip: Hard to find!!! Be prepared

From the moment I was picked up at the airport in Cuenca I felt right at home on the ride to Banos. Rodrigo was an excellent ambassador for the Hosteria that I would be spending the next few days at . The trip was an escape from NYC and the staff and hotel facilities provided a perfect combination of wellness and hospitality . Every staff member from The GM on down added a personal touch that must be given accolades. I will return soon to this pristine hotel and look forward to seeing my new " vacation famiy " A big thank you to the entire team at Hosteria Duran !!!

I'm visiting Cuenca and went out to the Banos suburb for a look around and a swim, I found this place, paid $3.20 and went in to find I had this delightful, fairly clear, thermal (90-100 degree) swimming pool to myself.

This beautiful Hotel in Cuenca had me with the stunning photos. However, the service was terrible from the minute we arrived, and looks was not enough to save this. We arrived and headed for lunch in their cafeteria {which we waited for over an hour for} for sub-par food. My room was not cleaned, until I requested it. Heat was not give until we requested. Towels had to be called, everything was work for us here. I spend more time on the phone with the staff than with i would have liked. They were nice and all but they have no idea what goof service is. Not a clue, but they are nice and they smile alot as they give you some real crappy service.

The front receptionist was nice but clearly dim. She messed so many times that I decided that I could care of our group of 6 better. This hotel is 15-20 minutes from Cuenca and that made this location for us an error. The city is charming, colonial and full of activities. Stay in town, not here. The cabs added up fast,
THE POOL? The pool is for the locals, not for the guests. They tell you otherwise, but they are lying. The locals take most of all the decent seating, and they don't leave til 10 PM. As a guest, you are off to the side and watching all your belongings as anyone can walk in off the streets.Once you see how far the same money takes you in Cuenca, you would really be foolish to pay more for everything at this place.

Recommended by a friend, my husband and I decided to visit this little gem just outside the city of Cuenca.

We couldn't have asked for a better Honeymoon. The service was excellent. The waiters and staff were so welcoming and helpful.

We only stayed for two nights, but it was just long enough to relax and enjoy the facilities.

During our stay, we enjoyed a swim in the pool, where the waters were lovely and warm.

The restaurant served a delicious selection of food, which was followed by excellent prices.

I would definitely come back again.
