It was a 1-night stay. Our kids and ourselves enjoyed the entire experience very much. The horse-back ride was a lot of fun; the food was great and the night's rest we all enjoyed was also much appreciated. The owners are great hosts and we also met some great people so overall it was a very nice experience. Highly recommendable!

Room Tip: All rooms have great views but rooms on the higher floors will have even better ones!

The 1 week horseriding trail oranized by Hacienda Alegria was just perfect!! Well trained horses, very good equipment, beautiful landscape, every day full of variety, lovely and professional owner/guides, and although everything was perfectly organized it still kept an "adventure" :-) It was a lifetime experience that I don't want to miss, and I definitely would love to return one day!

The hacienda & surrounding is beautiful, very relaxing atmosphere. The rooms are spacious, all is clean, the service and the food excellent. It is a place also non-riders would feel welcome and enjoy.

Hacienda La Alegría is one of the highlights of my trip this past March to Quito Ecuador. Gabrielle and Paty are amazing host, who made sure that I was always in a comfortable and friendly environment. For my first horse ride ever, I was given a horse that was gentle and we went on a trail that was visually spectacular! The advance group of riders went on a marvelous ride into the Andes Mountains. Upon Our return Paty greeted us with a delicious lunch. In the evening I had a choice of going into the jacuzzi or sitting buy a great fire in the main living room...often I did both. For sure! I'm going back next year for a longer ride. I recommend this Hacienda to anyone that is interested in horseback riding and enjoying the best of life.

The room, amenities, service, food, location, activities and animals were all wonderful. Hosts were kind and hospitable, responsive to every request. I was there for 8 days. We visited the local farm market, the dairy farm, wild mares, stud farm, leather working shop, cheese maker, wine and cheese cave, local schools, and a Festa (bull fighting). We rode through every kind of terrain visiting the paramo, volcanos, cloud forest, farm country and crater rims. It was beautiful, challenging and exciting! I recommend it.

We did a tour of Hacienda La Alegria during our train expedition on Tren Crecero. Our visit was not long but was VERY enjoyable. We knew we were in for a great experience when out train was welcomed to the area by galloping horses along side our train.
We sampled some local cuisine, watched a demonstration of a rodeo event, toured the beautiful family home, toured the dairy operation and met the lovely family that has lived and worked this hacienda for generations. We learned so much during our short visit and it was a highlight of our 3 weeks in Ecuador
